Shining tor G/sp-004

23rd February 2018 Shining Tor - G/SP-004 - 559m ASL 2 points (plus 3 points winter bonus)

SJ 994 737 - OS Explorer OL24

A joint activation weekend with Paul, G0KPH. We headed over to Shining Tor from the Midlands. Parking next to the reservoir we took a slightly alternative route to the summit (we got slightly lost!). It's a really nice hike with varied views and well maintained paths. We were fighting cold wind and low temperatures but nothing hot soup wouldn't sort out once we arrived at the summit.

The summit has a very handy antenna post/sign post that can hold the antenna pole with ease. We setup just behind the wall away from the wind and made a mix of contacts on 2m and HF.

The flag invited plenty of interest from passing walkers and many nice chats were had with those enquiring as to the 'event'.

2m and HF both have excellent take off from this location.

Thanks to all the chasers who made this a successful activation.
