Took advantage of the long weekend by coming in to edit tonight. Successfully cut Chapter 6 to 2 minutes for my Chapman Visual Sample. Also made some changes to the initial Portfolio cut of Chapter 6 with the help of my parents. MY HANDS ARE SO COLD.
My mom wanted me to cut all of the fighting sequences the first time but I didn't so she told me to recut it AGAIN. But I see where she's coming so I did it. We also decided that, to fit with the Chapman prompt that wants us to "Show that the character is pulled in two different directions at an emotional level, visualize their process of consideration, and show that they make a decision" (emphasis mine), I'm choosing to highlight all sequences with my dad so the "choice" is less ambiguous. So interesting that even with the changes, the total runtime is exactly the same to the second!!
So the good news is that I'm pretty much done with Chapter 6 and one college supplement film (unless Mr. Kelman hates them, in which case the process continues). The bad news is that I haven't had time to start editing any of the other Chapters because I've been working on this one. I mean, they won't take as long as any of the others because they're considerably more simple/shorter, but I still need to start.
It's October. Oh no.
I came to Polk with Emily tonight after dinner. I let her watch Chapter 6 and she really liked it. Yay! I started editing Chapter 3 and I'm around 50% done.
Bright and early, I'm here during my first free today. Also, I think that they've finally turned the heat on in here because I was as freezing the whole time last night.
I'm around 75% done with Chapter 3. The sequence is almost done and the sound doesn't need very much mixing. After b-roll, I'll just need to color grade and I'll be good!
I came back at 3 after lunch to do some more work. I'm done with sequencing and b-roll. Still need to color grade, but that's pretty much it and I'll have 4/8 films done! I've also started designing some new thumbnails/end cards for each film.
Back again! Came in early this morning during third free to finish Inside the Newsroom for Phillipian because my Associates are kind of dull when it comes to editing (don't tell them I said that).
I hate giving up precious Portfolio time for Phillipian but I also didn't have to become an Editor so that's my fault.
Exported Sung Nam's interview for Chapter 7 onto my drive before the AMC meeting. I emailed Ms. Wallner to see when I could get her footage from my class to me. I finished color grading and balanced audio channels. Will probably export the next time I'm in Polk, I like to wait 24 hours to re-watch something I've finished and then make changes.
