I make gestural mixed media work as an exploration of the visual and spatial potential of translucent surfaces. Polycarbonate is a strong and flexible material which when painted on and cut, allows light to play over and through the piece, revealing underlying depth that transcends the single focal plane of two-dimensional wall work. Through the manipulation of synthetic material, web-like patterns emerge and create a display of misleading fragility. The result is a tension between a visual ephemerality and the object's enduring materiality.
