Hi, I'm Sophia Franklin.

University of Maryland

Coming from a small town in Massachusetts, I came to the University of Maryland eager to discover the world that suddenly felt within reach. With a background in leadership and as an idealist at heart, I have always been able dream up better worlds; however, I am finally gaining the skills to make those dreams into reality through my experiences in the Scholars program. During my time at the University of Maryland and as a part of the College Park Scholars Program, I hope to become a more involved and knowledgeable citizen who is compelled to create real change in the world. I am an eager learner seeking to soak up all possible experiences. I hope to make the most of my time here by getting involved in programs like Lakeland STARS, which has been a wonderful tie to the Prince George's County community, or Global Fellows, which has propelled me to solve problems we are currently facing and seek the expertise of authorities in various government bureaus. I hope that, during my four years at the University of Maryland, I can develop my skills and hone my weaknesses so that I emerge as the best version of myself, fully prepared for any challenges I will surely face in the future.
