It has been a few days, and I don't know if I am going back. The screen on this phone is not nearly as nice. The wider body with selfie cam punch-out is annoying. The camera is not as premium. It is only IP52 rated. The body is plastic. The vibrator is buzzy and annoying. There is no expandable storage. It is not a premium phone on the level of the xperia, and it feels like it.
I am still going to try to fix this xperia. I disassembled the phone and removed the stuck tray (although the sandwich main board made the disassembly ultimately unhelpful and unnecessary). I have ordered a new SIM tray, and if that doesn't work, I will try to locate a new board if a factory reset doesn't help. But in 20 years of owning a phone, this is the ONLY phone I have ever had this type of issue with. And with the xperia 1 v rumored to cost $1600, I do not know if I can justify going back to Sony again, even for a better phone, because it is simply not $1100 better.
For filebackup simply connect your Android smartphone (fex Experia S) via USB cable and all files appear in Ubuntu as a portable USB disc, just drag and drop.....or, connect your Sony Xperia S to a USB portable disc using OTG (On the go) USB cable and move all files to that memory or harddrive :-) really simple.... Go Sony...
In my case the culprit was a process called com.sonymobile.hook, which also shows up in your battery usage statistics. It is not this process by itself that consumes that much battery, but it is starting endless wakelocks that keep the system from going to deep sleep mode most of the time.
When I stopped this process the huge battery drain disappeard. I have no clue what com.sonymoble.hook is good for, but I did not notice any problems after stopping it a couple of weeks ago.
After a restart of the phone that process needs to be stopped manually once again however.
Thank you for suggesting the com.sonymobile.hook, I was not sure what that process was and did not know if it was integral to the phone so I left it alone but it is good to know that I can stop it and it will have no affect. After Strampke messaged me, I did a restart of the phone and it seemed to do the trick. I managed to get over two days of normal usage (for me) from one charge which is was I would normally expect from a Sony and the estimated usage time for the next time is three days!
When I had the battery problem, I closed all the apps I didn't use in the settings and then did the restart. As you can see from the screenshot I uploaded, I had used the phone for a couple of hours and my guess is the phone needed to do one battery cycle to monitor my usage so it could react accordingly. I am not sure if this is correct or not but since the restart, I have had no trouble with battery life, even getting three days when I am not using it much. If you have done the restart, one of the other members here mentioned a sonyhook app that was running which they closed with no adverse affects. I have not done that so I do not know if that would work or not. I hope this helps,
I have my phone for 1 and a half year now, before I owned this phone I had the xperia z3 and before I had the z3 I had the z2. My problems started with the xperia z3 (Just some heating issues and some apps closing issues, they are still ussues though.)
Hey, no, sadly not. I still have these issues till this day. I even have it right now. The xperia xz is my only phone sooo yeah.... this is very bad for a company like sony. A cheap chinese phone would've been better.
I gave the phone for repair under the warranty sony and sell me wanting to believe that if I have a cracked frame, they can look inside as I exchange it at my expense and I do not know what will happen next or recognize the recalamation or come up with another crap. This is sad because I had confidence in sony and my z3 served me 3 years and now xz even does not have a year, if you do not recognize the recalamation this will be the last equipment sony
Why did @Quester edit your post? You said that they removed a post from you becausee it was palced 2 times. you said that they deleted the post with the most kudos and left the one post withou any kudos. Seems like sony is trying to hide their faults! weird comapny! sadly we can't do anything to powerfull illuminati companies....
