If you want immersive, noise-isolating audio with massive battery life for long study sessions, choose Sony WH-CH520L; if you need situational awareness and all-day comfort without ear fatigue while studying in open environments, choose LC-dolida Open-Ear.
• Sony WH-CH520L: Delivers up to 50 hours of continuous playback and active sound isolation, making it ideal for deep focus but potentially isolating you from your surroundings.
• LC-dolida Open-Ear: Offers an open-ear design that keeps your ears free for ambient sounds and includes a unique smart case for direct controls, though it lacks the battery longevity of its competitor.
• Best for: The Sony pick suits students who need to block out distractions, while the LC-dolida option fits those who prefer to stay connected to their environment while working.
The Sony WH-CH520L is built for the student who needs to carve out a quiet bubble in a noisy world. Its on-ear design utilizes sound isolation technology to reduce ambient noise, which is a critical feature when trying to concentrate on complex reading or dense textbooks. Unlike open designs that let every hallway conversation bleed through, these headphones create a physical barrier against distraction. This makes them particularly effective for "best fast charging headphones for studying" scenarios where you might run low on power mid-session and need a quick boost. A mere three-minute charge provides 1.5 hours of listening time, ensuring your study flow isn't interrupted by a dead battery.
The battery performance here is genuinely standout. With a claimed average life of up to 50 hours, you can go weeks without plugging in the USB cable. This is not just about music; it is about endurance. If you are pulling long hours in the library or working late into the night, the 50-hour capacity means you rarely have to think about power management. The Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) also plays a role here by restoring high frequencies in compressed audio files, ensuring that even lecture recordings or lower-quality podcasts sound authentic and clear. You can further tailor this experience using the EQ settings in the companion app, allowing you to boost bass for motivation or clarity for voice notes.

However, this product is not for everyone. Because they are on-ear headphones that rely on sound isolation rather than transparency, they are less suitable for environments where you need to hear traffic, instructors, or roommates. The soft ear pads are designed for comfort over extended periods, but the clamping force required for isolation might feel tight to some users during very long sessions. Furthermore, while the Bluetooth 5.2 connection offers a stable range of 10 meters, the lack of true wireless freedom means you are tethered to a headband style. If you find yourself constantly needing to take calls while moving around a campus or gym, the button controls on the ear cups are convenient, but the form factor limits mobility compared to clip-on options.
The LC-dolida Open-Ear earbuds are engineered for a different kind of student—one who values safety, awareness, and zero physical pressure on the ear canal. Their open-ear design rests outside the ear rather than inside, eliminating the feeling of blockage or "fullness" that often leads to ear fatigue after two or three hours of wear. This is a game-changer for students who study in shared spaces, coffee shops, or outdoors, where hearing your surroundings is essential. You can listen to music or audiobooks while still clearly hearing people talking nearby or checking for safety while walking between classes. The secure clip-on fit ensures they stay in place during movement, making them a robust choice for active lifestyles where traditional in-ear buds might slip out.
What truly sets this model apart is the intelligent control hub located directly on the charging case. Most modern earbuds require you to download an app and grant permissions to adjust equalizers or change volume settings. The LC-dolida case bypasses this entirely. It features a built-in LED display that acts as a command center, letting you check battery levels, switch EQ modes, set timers for study breaks, and even trigger your phone's camera—all without touching your smartphone screen. For a student juggling multiple devices or one who prefers tactile controls over digital menus, this level of instant access is incredibly practical. The ability to locate misplaced earbuds directly from the case adds a layer of security that prevents the common panic of losing small accessories.
Despite these advantages, there are trade-offs you must consider. The battery life averages 30 hours, which is respectable but significantly less than the Sony's 50-hour capability. If you plan to use these for marathon study marathons without access to a charger, you may find yourself recharging more frequently. Additionally, because the design is open, there is no active noise cancellation or sound isolation. You will hear exactly what is happening around you, which can be a double-edged sword; while great for awareness, it means loud noises in the background will interfere with your audio. The frequency response ranges from 20Hz to 20,000Hz, offering balanced sound, but it will never match the depth and bass impact of closed-back headphones. If you rely heavily on deep bass for focus or need to block out a chaotic environment, this open design might leave you wanting more.

• Best for quick top-ups → Sony WH-CH520L: A 3-minute charge yields 1.5 hours of playtime, offering rapid recovery for heavy users.
• Best for zero ear fatigue → LC-dolida Open-Ear: Pressure-free design eliminates the discomfort of clamping force found in on-ear models.
For the specific goal of studying, I would recommend the Sony WH-CH520L. While the LC-dolida offers excellent comfort and situational awareness, the primary challenge for most students is distraction. The Sony's sound isolation creates the necessary acoustic boundary to help you tune out a busy dorm or library, and the 50-hour battery life means you can carry them for days without worrying about finding an outlet. In my opinion, the ability to isolate noise and the superior endurance make it the more reliable tool for academic work. However, if your study environment is already quiet or you need to hear announcements and colleagues constantly, the LC-dolida becomes the stronger contender for its unique case controls and open design. Ultimately, if you are looking for wireless earbuds for studying that prioritize focus over awareness, the Sony is the winner.
The Sony WH-CH520L supports a quick charge function where 3 minutes gives you 1.5 hours of listening time, which is highly effective for catching up on power before a study session.
The LC-dolida Open-Ear provides balanced sound with a frequency range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz, but the open design does not block external noise, which may affect concentration in loud areas.
The Sony WH-CH520L offers up to 50 hours of battery life, significantly longer than the 30 hours provided by the LC-dolida Open-Ear, making it better for extended use.
Yes, the LC-dolida Open-Ear allows you to switch EQ modes and adjust settings directly from the smart LED display case, whereas the Sony typically uses a dedicated app for customization.
