If you want deep, punchy bass with a secure behind-the-neck design for active workouts and basic noise isolation, choose Sony SP600N; if you need high-resolution wireless audio with superior battery life and advanced call clarity for gaming or long sessions, choose Phiaton Bonobuds Plus.
• Sony SP600N: Strengths lie in its rugged IPX4 sweat resistance and the unique behind-the-neck form factor that keeps earbuds secure during intense movement; trade-off is the shorter 6-hour single charge battery life and older Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity.
• Phiaton Bonobuds Plus: Strengths include an impressive 20-hour total battery life, Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound for low-latency gaming, and modern Bluetooth 5.2 stability; trade-off is the lack of physical neckband which some users find less secure than the Sony's design.
• Who it's for: The Sony is the ideal pick for runners and gym-goers who prioritize a secure fit and durability over long battery runs, while the Phiaton is the better choice for commuters, gamers, and office workers who value sound fidelity and all-day power.
The Sony SP600N is engineered specifically for the active user who refuses to let their headphones slip off during a run or a heavy lifting session. Its defining feature is the behind-the-neck design, which creates a stable anchor point that prevents the earbuds from falling out even when you are jumping or sprinting. This is not just about comfort; it is about security. The unit weighs only 21 grams, making it incredibly light on your head, yet the rubber and silicone materials provide a grip that feels substantial without being bulky. If you have ever struggled with true wireless earbuds sliding out of your ears during a workout, this form factor solves that problem immediately.
For those looking for over ear headphones for pc setups that double as sport gear, the Sony offers a specific advantage: the Digital Noise Canceling technology allows you to focus entirely on your music or voice assistant commands without the distraction of ambient gym noise. You can switch to Ambient Sound Mode instantly if you need to hear a trainer or oncoming traffic, providing a layer of safety that purely sealed earbuds often lack. The sound profile leans heavily into EXTRA BASS, delivering a deep, punchy low end that makes rhythmic movements feel more impactful. However, this comes with a caveat regarding connectivity; it uses Bluetooth version 4.1, which, while reliable for standard listening, lacks the bandwidth of newer standards for ultra-high-resolution streaming.

You should buy the Sony SP600N if your primary use case involves physical activity where sweat and movement are constants. The IPX4 rating ensures it can handle sweat and light rain without issue, protecting the internal electronics from moisture damage. The magnetic neodymium magnets in the earbuds also allow them to snap together around your neck when you aren't using them, keeping them safe and ready for the next rep. However, you should skip this model if you require long battery life for travel or work. With only 6 hours of playback on a single charge, you will need to recharge frequently if you plan to use them for a full workday or a long commute without access to a power source. Additionally, if you are looking for bluetooth headphones for pc that support the latest low-latency codecs for competitive gaming, the older Bluetooth 4.1 specification might introduce a slight delay compared to newer options.
The Phiaton Bonobuds Plus targets the listener who demands premium audio quality and seamless integration with modern devices. Unlike the Sony, these are true wireless earbuds designed with an open-fit ergonomic shape that sits comfortably in the ear canal without creating excessive pressure. They utilize a customized 12mm Dual Dynamic Driver system, which provides a broad spectrum of sound ranging from crisp highs to detailed lows. What sets them apart significantly is the inclusion of Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound technology. This allows for the aptX Adaptive audio codec, delivering high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution. This is a game-changer for audiophiles and gamers who need crystal-clear detail and very low latency, ensuring that what you see on screen matches perfectly with what you hear.
When considering these as best headset for pc alternatives for casual gaming or media consumption, the Phiaton excels due to its modern connectivity. Running on Bluetooth 5.2 with a range of up to 10 meters (approximately 33 feet), the connection is stable and robust. The digital hybrid noise canceling system uses both internal and external microphones to minimize background noise by up to 98%, creating a genuinely immersive environment whether you are on a busy train or in a noisy office. Furthermore, the call quality is exceptional thanks to Qualcomm cVc dual microphones, which filter out wind and background chatter for clear voice transmission during video calls or podcasts.
You should choose the Phiaton Bonobuds Plus if battery anxiety is a major concern for you. With a total of 20 hours of pure sound pleasure provided by the charging case, you can easily last through multiple days of moderate use before needing to plug in. The case itself supports fast charging, taking just 1.8 hours to fully charge, and the earbuds themselves can be topped up quickly. The touch controls offer intuitive management of your audio, allowing you to toggle ambient mode, adjust volume, or pause playback with simple taps. However, you must accept that the design relies on ear tips for stability rather than a neckband. While they come with four sizes of flexible ear tips to ensure a snug fit, users with very small or uniquely shaped ear canals might find the true wireless form factor less secure than the Sony's behind-the-neck solution during vigorous exercise.
• Best for Battery Life → Phiaton Bonobuds Plus: With 20 hours of total playtime versus the Sony's 6 hours, the Phiaton wins decisively for travelers and all-day users.
• Best for Secure Active Use → Sony SP600N: The behind-the-neck design with magnets prevents loss during running or jumping, offering superior security for athletes.
• Best for Audio Fidelity & Gaming → Phiaton Bonobuds Plus: The aptX Adaptive codec and Snapdragon Sound provide lower latency and higher resolution audio than the Sony's standard setup.
• Best for Sweat Resistance → Both: Both units carry an IPX4 rating, meaning they are equally capable of handling sweat and light rain.
• Best for Connectivity Standards → Phiaton Bonobuds Plus: Bluetooth 5.2 offers faster pairing and better stability compared to the Sony's Bluetooth 4.1.
• Best for Bass Focus → Sony SP600N: The "EXTRA BASS" tuning prioritizes deep, punchy low frequencies for a thumping rhythm.
• Best for Call Clarity → Phiaton Bonobuds Plus: The cVc dual microphone system is specifically optimized for crystal-clear voice transmission in noisy environments.
• Best for Quick Recharge → Phiaton Bonobuds Plus: The ability to get hours of play from a short charge via the case is more convenient than the Sony's 1.5-hour full charge requirement.
In my opinion, I would buy the Phiaton Bonobuds Plus if I were primarily using these as over ear headphones for pc or general daily drivers. The combination of Bluetooth 5.2, aptX Adaptive support, and the massive 20-hour battery life makes it the more versatile and future-proof device for modern computing and media consumption. While the Sony SP600N is a fantastic piece of engineering for the gym, the limitations of its older Bluetooth version and short battery life make it feel dated for general computer use. Unless you are strictly an athlete who needs the security of a neckband, the Phiaton offers a richer sound experience and far fewer interruptions for recharging.
The Phiaton Bonobuds Plus is better suited for gaming because it features Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound and aptX Adaptive, which reduce audio latency significantly compared to the Sony SP600N.
Both models are IPX4 rated, so they handle sweat and rain equally well, but the Sony SP600N has a behind-the-neck design that may stay more secure during high-intensity movement.
The Phiaton Bonobuds Plus offers a total of 20 hours of battery life with its charging case, whereas the Sony SP600N provides only 6 hours per charge.
The Phiaton Bonobuds Plus uses Bluetooth 5.2, which is more compatible with modern PCs and offers a more stable connection than the Sony SP600N's older Bluetooth 4.1 standard.
