Effective date: July 15, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains what data Sonvo collects, how it's used, and your rights regarding it.
Sonvo does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal identifying information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the app. There are no logins, passwords, or single sign-on of any kind. Access to paid features is tied entirely to your Apple ID through Apple's App Store, not to any account we manage.
When you record a voice note, the audio is sent securely to our backend service, which passes it to Google, L.L.C. (Gemini) to transcribe it into text, translate it into your selected language if you spoke in a different one, and suggest a title and organizational tags for your note — all in a single request. Audio is transmitted for the sole purpose of generating your transcription; our own servers do not persist it after the transcription is returned to your device.
Once transcription is complete, your notes (text, tags, and titles) are stored only in your device's local storage. We do not upload, back up, or store your notes on any server we control.
Preferences like your selected transcription language, font size and style, tags, and daily reminder settings are stored on your device and, if you're signed into iCloud, are synced across your own devices using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. This sync happens directly between your devices through your personal iCloud account — we do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to us.
If you subscribe to Sonvo Pro or Sonvo Ultra, your purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We never see or receive your payment or billing details. We only receive confirmation from Apple of which subscription tier is active on your device, which determines your daily recording allowance.
If you're on the free tier, Sonvo shows a banner ad on the Saved notes screen through Google AdMob. We haven't yet implemented a consent management flow, so every ad request is explicitly marked non-personalized: Sonvo does not use your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or any tracking data to choose which ads you see, and we don't show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because no tracking data is requested. AdMob still processes basic technical data (such as your IP address and general device/app information) to serve and measure the ad, under Google's own privacy policy. Subscribing to Sonvo Pro or Sonvo Ultra removes ads entirely.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, contacts, photos, precise location, or browsing history. Beyond the ad serving described above, we do not use any third-party analytics SDKs.
We share the minimum data necessary with the following service providers, solely to deliver Sonvo's core functionality, under their own respective privacy policies:
Google, L.L.C. (Gemini) — speech-to-text transcription, translation, and tag/title suggestions. Google Privacy Policy
Google AdMob — serves the banner ad shown to free-tier users on the Saved notes screen, as non-personalized ads only. Google Ads Privacy & Terms
Apple Inc. — subscription billing (StoreKit) and, if you use iCloud, syncing your own settings across your own devices. Apple Privacy Policy
These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the feature back to you; they are not authorized to use it for their own independent purposes such as advertising.
Audio sent for processing is used to generate your transcription, translation, title, and tags; we do not retain it on our own servers afterward.
Your notes remain on your device until you delete them or delete the app.
Deleting the app removes all locally stored notes and settings from that device. Settings synced via iCloud may persist in your personal iCloud account until you remove them there yourself.
Sonvo is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from children. Ads shown in the free tier are non-personalized and are not targeted using any data about children.
Because your notes and settings live locally on your device (and, where applicable, in your own iCloud account), you can exercise most data rights directly — deleting a note in-app, or deleting the app itself, removes that data. For anything processed transiently by Google on our behalf, contact us using the details below.
Data controller: Sonvo
Legal basis for processing: performance of a contract (providing the transcription feature you request when you record a note).
Your rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, subject to applicable law.
Complaints: you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, or with Sweden's Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) at imy.se.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of Sonvo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
