Hello, my name is Jamie Sonneberger, and I am excited to be running for the Anchor Bay School Board. Born and raised in Michigan, I graduated from Henry Ford II High School in Sterling Heights. I've been happily married for 24 years and, together with my spouse, we have raised two wonderful boys who currently attend Anchor Bay Schools. Our family also includes two dogs and two cats, adding joy and laughter to our home.
As the building substitute teacher at Anchor Bay Middle School South, I am deeply connected to the educational community and dedicated to the success and well-being of our students. My daily interactions with students and staff give me a unique perspective on the needs and challenges within our schools.
On a lighter note, I can proudly say I know all the words to the movie "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles." I think there's a little bit of Dell Griffith in all of us.
"If you want something done right, do it yourself." This belief drives me to run for the Anchor Bay School Board. I care deeply about our community and our schools, and I want to ensure that our district remains a place where every student can thrive.
America is more polarized today than ever before. Our children's education is too important to be overshadowed with arguing and fighting. Our kids deserve our best and we need to do better. I want to teach our kids that there is a better way to lead. I intend to model that behavior.
With your support, I will work tirelessly to protect and enhance the quality of education in Anchor Bay Schools. Let's ensure our district remains a place where every student can succeed.
I believe that the best leaders are those who listen to others and work together to create a shared vision. My experiences as a little league coach, a cub scout leader, and a substitute teacher have taught me the importance of teamwork, communication, and dedication.
As a member of the Anchor Bay School Board, I will prioritize listening to the voices of students, parents, teachers, and community members. Together, we can identify the strengths and areas for improvement within our schools. My goal is to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education in a supportive and nurturing environment.
I am committed to fighting for the resources and policies that will benefit our children and prepare them for a successful future. Let's work together to make Anchor Bay Schools the best they can be.
I am not a politician. I believe education is too important for politics. Yes, I am asking for your vote. But here is something I bet you won't hear from anyone else: I want the best candidate to win, even if it is not me. Our kids deserve the best, let's make sure they get the best.
For the past ten years I have worked in the public school system. As a bus driver, I picked your child up and returned them home safely. I helped teach kids to get along. I also taught that respect is not spitting jelly beans on the floor. As a paraprofessional in a high school special education class, I helped your child through the joys of success and the sadness of struggle. We laughed, we cried, and we did pretty darn well with virtual learning. As a member of the summer custodial crew, I've seen that facilities staff are often asked to achieve more with fewer resources than almost any other group. I've worked in the office, taking phone calls and managing lost items. And I have also filled in as teacher for many classes.
I believe these experiences make me a strong candidate for the school board, and I hope you agree.
