I login to the firewall, (which is a TZ 370) and go through the firmware upload process only to be greeted with a red banner telling me that the firmware I've uploaded isn't compatible with the firewall.....

Our TZ-270 fails to connect to the internet after upgrading firmware to latest version. After reboot to saved configuration, there is no internet access; all settings are the same as on the previous firmware (old). All interfaces are correctly configured and unchanged per previous configuration. Reboot back to older firmware version and internet access is immediately restored. Sonicwall support has no idea or suggestions. Has anyone encountered anything like this before?

A couple weeks ago, I was going to upgrade the firmware on our NSA 5600 from 6.5.4.4-44n to 6.5.4.5-53n. I downloaded the new file and checked the md5 checksum to make sure it was good. When I went to upload it, rather than accepting it and putting it as one of the new boot options, I just got the progress spinner. I ended up leaving it overnight, and in the morning it had timed out. When I logged back in, it only listed the 6.5.4.4 options, as if I had never attempted the upload.

When we install a new Sonicwall TZ firewall, when we first receive we always safemode the device and upload the latest firmware etc. and configure, once the device is installed, we are finding that uploading new firmware via the web interface we get a network error during transfer. Doesn't matter whether we are LAN or WAN side of the device. We then re-try, try different browsers, clear browser caches and it will then work for about 75% of the firewalls we look after. The remaining some work by reverting to version 6 interface, and then the remaining we have to force downtime with the end-user, by doing a site visit to upgrade via safemode. Anyone else experiencing this?

If you're suggesting that the firmware is corrupted, then how do you upgrade remotely? We would need to visit 30 sites each time there is an upgrade. (This also happens when connected directly the Sonicwall)

I originally encountered this problem with my own TZ270W. Very frustrated that a simple process was problematic. CSR at the time suggested using Edge browser instead of my default Firefox. That did work. On the other hand, all future firmware updates have been successful.

Using GMS 9.3 - Trying to upload new firmware to our remote units (various, TZ500, TZ600 and NSA2600) each unit gets to 95%, pauses and then the upload fails with this message. Status: The firmware upload failed. This image is too large for this device.

Opened ticket 44103729, was never given an answer other than to call in, I called in met with a rep and they opened ticket 44107055, no resolution. Was told to "please try the firmware upgrade procedure from a different browser & incognito mode." which i did. Same result.

We have a TZ370 Firewall with a current firmware version 7.0.0-R906, yet when trying to update to hte current version 7.0.1-5051 or even the latest Version with 7.0.0-R... we recieve the error message "Firmware is not compatible".

The model of firewall matches the model shown in the portal, even the serial number matches. The md5sum is the exact same as shown for the update, yet when trying to upload the firmware it refuses to do so.

To keep your security appliance updated against known threats you need review and update your current software and firmware. This week SonicWall announced an update to fix a potential issue with SSLVPN.

I was left scratching my head because I double checked that the image I downloaded was the correct one and that the device model was consistent with the image. I tried to upload another image, this time a previous firmware version and lo and behold, the same error! After this, I knew it was not a Sonicwall image error but possibly the image was being corrupted by my AV software. I tried from another PC to eliminate the AV as the culprit and same result.

1. From the Firmware and Settings menu, I deleted several backups that I had on local storage, leaving only the most current backup version (see image) after hypothesizing that the error may be cause by a lack of local storage to hold the uploaded firmware.
