sOFT OPTOELECTRONIC MATERIALS lAB.
Welcome to Soft Optoelectronic Materials Lab.
Our laboratory is dedicated to advancing the development of future soft light-emitting devices. We are performing two main research areas as follows.
Mechanoluminescence: We study the intriguing phenomenon of mechanoluminescence in soft composite materials, which produce bright and colorful light in response to various stimuli such as gentle touch, pressing, and pulling. This technology has significant potential for unique applications such as wearable lighting textiles that respond to human movement, wind-driven displays powered by natural forces, and advanced anti-counterfeiting methods for heightened information security.

Novel Electroluminescent Structures: We investigate innovative electroluminescent structures designed to enhance luminous efficiency and durability. The main novelty is that the electrodes are embedded inside the emissive layer, thereby removing constraints on its thickness and greatly improving durability. These structures enable robust displays that emit stable light in extreme conditions such as boiling water or icy environments, making them highly reliable for outdoor displays.
