Dr. Solomon Debbarma is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). Before joining IIT Bombay, Debbarma was an Adjunct Lecturer and a Postdoc at the Ingram School of Engineering of Texas State University, USA. He received a PhD and an M.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Roorkee. He graduated with a Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala). His primary research interests include rigid pavements, sustainable concrete materials (e.g., recycled aggregates, industrial and agricultural wastes) and special concrete for paving applications.

Our group presented (poster) two papers in the 10th International Conference on Concrete Under Severe Conditions - Environment & Loading (CONSEC) 2024, September 25 - 27, 2024 at IIT Madras Research Park, India.
Anusha presented a poster titled "Expanded Clay Aggregate as an Internal Curing Agent to Produce Stiff Mortar Mixtures for Paving Application – A Laboratory Study".
Ritika presented a poster title "Critical Appraisal on the Interfacial Bonding Mechanism of RAP-PCC Mixes and Ways to Improve it".

Debbarma visited the NASA's Kennedy Space Center at Orlando Florida, USA during Oct. 26-27, 2023. This visit was a part of collaborative visit which included special tours not available to the general public.

Debbarma served as Subject Matter Expert/Mentor for the event TATA Steel Advanced Materials Research Centre (TSAMRC) MaterialNEXT 4.0 in the area of 'Emerging Construction Materials' to help assess the ideas and guide the selected teams, engaging once in 2-3 weeks (for 1-2 hours) during execution of the event (end-Jan'23 to mid-Apr'23) along with the local mentors (faculties from participating teams' institutes) and Internal Mentors from Tata Steel side.
Debbarma chaired a session on “Materials and Construction” in the 2nd International Conference on Transportation Implementation Planning – Conception to Execution (TIPCE) organized by the Transportation Engineering Group, IIT Roorkee, held during September 14-17, 2022
Debbarma acted as a Postdoc mentor for the NASA MINDS Undergraduate project: Geopolymer for Future Lunar 3D construction (PI: Shi, X., $2,500 awarded) and led the TXST Bobcat CaerusCrete team won 1st place in the 2022 NASA MINDS Undergraduate Student Design competition among all the underclassmen teams
Debbarma served as an Entrepreneur Lead in an NSF I-Corps project: High-performance Cementitious Materials, funded by the National Science Foundation (PI: Shi, X.; $50,000 awarded) in the year 2021-2022 and conducted 101 customer discoveries to assess the market of the team’s developed technology on using high recycled materials content to develop a novel concrete mixture.
