After purchasing the property in 2019, the City of Vallejo aims to relocate the Vallejo Police Department to this two story, 59,000 square feet facility in order to create a civic campus within the downtown waterfront.
The new facility will house all police operations, including: a vehicle sallyport, holding cells, locker rooms, an Emergency Operations Center (EOC), a community room, police officer offices, an IT room, and an investigation room.
The building will have to be seismically retrofitted to keep up with standards. In addition, the site would have to be rezoned from Business/Limited Residential to Public Facility.
The Planning Commission on December 2 2019 passed a resolution recommending to City Council that they approve the General Plan land use amendment to Public Facilities. During their February 11 2020 meeting, the City Council approved the amendment. During their February 25 2020 meeting, the City Council approved a design professional agreement with Indigo Hammond + Playle Architects for the design of the building.
