During their regularly scheduled meeting on 26 February 2020, the City of Fairfield Planning Commission approved a new self-storage facility in the Western Business Park in northeastern Fairfield.
The project, Storage 360 Self Storage, was approved following discussion by the Commission. Commissioners were concerned over the use of a land deed to limit the type of use on the property. Staff explained that the intent of the land deed was to prevent future property owners from reutilizing the proposed building in a way that would require more parking than the current project needs. However, staff confirmed that this could also be achieved through a use permit. Because of this, the Commission motioned to approve the project along with a use permit that would restrict the type of uses that could be housed in the building.
During the meeting, the Commission also received an annual report on the General Plan. They also approved a resolution affirming that the sale of city property on North Texas Street and at Woolner Avenue was consistent with the City's General Plan.
