The Allan Witt Community Park Renovation Plan aims to renovate Allan Witt Park into a better and safer park.
The City Council will adopt a resolution on whether to accept a construction bid for Phases 1 and 2 of the project during their 7 July 2020 meeting.
The City Council first adopted the plan during their 20 March 2018 meeting.
During their 21 January 2020 meeting, the City Council adopted a resolution rejecting all bids for the construction of Phase 1 improvements to the Park as all bids were overbudget.
This area would have an entry plaza, a large lawn, and a shade structure for community events. The shade structure would be multi-purpose, usable as a stage or picnic space.
A new gated entry between the Aquatics Center and the Sports Center will allow for easier people management.
A ten feet wide path will be accessible to police and maintenance if necessary.
This area provides a large, multi-use sports field, a fitness track loop, sand volleyball, and a fitness course. Spaces will be provided for families to have picnics and play.
This new playground will be accessible to those of all abilities, similar to the Play-4-All park that will be built in the Farm at Alamo Creek project in Vacaville. A large, iconic play structure is planned to draw users from all over Fairfield.
Little League and Adult Baseball will use the existing two fields on the western side of the park. Youth softball will get two new fields while a new multi-purpose field will be used for adult softball and soccer. A new challenger field will be created for children with disabilities.
The existing skate park will be fenced to control access and lighting will be improved.
In both the little league and the softball areas, batting cages, bullpens, storage facilities, concessions areas, and shade shelters will be constructed. Restrooms will also be provided but will only be usable when the facilities are in use.
A small playground will also be built in the little league area.
The sports courts have been moved south from their current location to allow for better views into the park. These courts will allow for games like "tennis, basketball, pickleball, and futsol."
A new restroom will be located to the south of the courts near the road.
A new, fenced dog park will be added to the northeast corner of the site. The dog park, which will separate small and large dogs, may have agility courses and alternate surfaces.
