sebastian was a vampire who lived in the 'golden age' of their species. sold to pirates at eight, he was later turned by them, taking the ship and making a name for himself as "sebastian the merciless." after a time he met a witch named cassandra, in roanoke, who he fell in love with, although he also lost her, after a time, and ended up dessicated in a coffin for centuries. eventually, he was brought back (albeit on accident) by the actions of the students in the salvatore school.
