landon was conceived when his mother was consumed by malivore and subsequently impregnated, making malivore itself landon's biological father. after she gave him up for adoption, Landon went through the foster care system. eventually, he was fostered by hector and maria gonzales who would go on to foster rafael waithe. upon activating his werewolf curse, rafael was introduced to the salvitore school, with landon accompanying him, despite not knowing of his own heritage.
