If you want a minimalist setup that keeps your rearview mirror clear and works with almost any existing dash camera, choose SoeKoa Dash Cam Mirror; if you need a versatile, heavy-duty mount for a large portable CarPlay screen or navigation display on your dashboard or windshield, choose APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount.
• SoeKoa Dash Cam Mirror: Its biggest strength is the 16-joint flexibility that allows 360-degree rotation to hide the device behind your mirror stem, but it is strictly limited to mirrors with a cylindrical stem of at least 0.4 inches long. This pick is for drivers who want a hidden camera solution that doesn't block their forward view.
• APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount: It offers a powerful twist-lock suction cup and dual-axis arm capable of holding screens up to 11 inches securely on either glass or plastic, yet it requires significant dashboard or windshield real estate to function properly. This pick is for users who prioritize a large, adjustable display for navigation and media while driving.
The SoeKoa Dash Cam Mirror is designed for a very specific aesthetic and functional goal: invisibility. If you drive a vehicle where every inch of your field of vision counts, this mount is engineered to tuck your recording device out of sight. By positioning the camera directly behind the rearview mirror, it utilizes the "blind spot" of your own peripheral vision while keeping the lens pointed exactly where you need it. The design relies on a series of over ten different joints included in the kit. This modular approach means you can adapt the mount to fit the vast majority of dash cameras on the market, from brands like APEMAN, YI, Vantrue, and KDLINKS, ensuring that your specific device fits without needing a custom bracket.
The mechanical engineering here focuses entirely on fluid movement. The swivel ball adapter head allows for real 360-degree rotation, meaning you can angle the lens precisely to capture the road ahead without worrying about the camera body swinging into your line of sight. However, this solution comes with a hard physical constraint. You cannot use this mount unless your current rearview mirror has a cylindrical stem on the back that is at least 0.4 inches long. If your mirror is flat-backed or has an integrated sensor cluster that blocks the stem, this product simply will not attach. It is also explicitly noted that it is not compatible with Garmin dash cams, so checking your specific model before buying is essential.
This product is ideal for the driver who already owns a small-to-medium dash cam and wants to upgrade their mounting strategy to something cleaner. It is perfect for those who dislike the "floating monitor" look of traditional mounts and prefer a sleek, unobtrusive setup. It is also the go-to choice for pickup trucks where visibility is paramount and you don't want a bulky screen cluttering the top of the windshield. However, if you are looking to mount a large tablet, a portable CarPlay unit, or a device larger than a standard dash cam, this is not the right tool. It lacks the structural rigidity and the broad compatibility needed for heavier electronics.

The APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount is built for power users who rely on large displays for daily tasks. Unlike the subtle nature of the SoeKoa, this mount is designed to be robust and highly visible. The core of its functionality lies in the upgraded twist-lock suction cup. This mechanism creates a semi-permanent hold that is significantly more secure than standard sticky pads, reducing movement even on rough roads. The suction base is washable and reusable, which suggests a design meant for longevity and repeated installation attempts without losing grip. It supports both windshield and dashboard placement, giving you the freedom to position your screen exactly where your eyes naturally fall.
For anyone running a portable CarPlay system, this mount is a game-changer. It is rated to handle devices ranging from 7 to 11 inches, covering most large-screen navigation units and CarPlay displays. The dual-axis adjustable arm is the standout feature here, allowing you to fine-tune both the height and the viewing angle independently. This is crucial for reducing glare from the sun or headlights, as you can tilt the screen away from direct light sources while keeping it close enough to read. The sturdy construction ensures stability during everyday driving, making it suitable for everything from short commutes to long road trips.
This product is best for delivery drivers, ride-share operators, or travelers who treat their vehicle as a mobile office or entertainment hub. If you spend hours navigating unfamiliar cities or managing calls hands-free, the ability to lock a large screen in place without wobble is invaluable. It is also excellent for pickup trucks where the large cabin space allows for a more prominent mount without feeling cramped. However, it is not a stealth solution. It demands attention and space. If you have a small compact car or a truck with a very low dashboard, the large footprint of the suction cup and arm might feel intrusive. It is also not designed to hang behind a mirror; it must sit on a flat surface where the suction cup can seal effectively.
• Best for Rearview Integration → SoeKoa Dash Cam Mirror: If your priority is hiding the camera behind your existing mirror, this is the only logical choice due to its specialized stem-mounting design.
• Best for Large Screens → APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount: Only the APPS2Car can securely hold a 10-inch or 11-inch portable CarPlay display with its wide clamp and reinforced arm.
• Best for Visibility Control → APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount: The dual-axis arm allows you to adjust the screen to avoid glare, whereas the SoeKoa offers rotation but no vertical height adjustment.
• Best for Installation Versatility → APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount: You can mount this on the dashboard or the windshield; the SoeKoa is strictly limited to mirrors with a specific stem shape.
• Best for Existing Dash Cams → SoeKoa Dash Cam Mirror: With over 99% compatibility listed for major brands, it is the superior choice for standard dash cams that need a discreet home.
• Best for Stability on Rough Roads → APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount: The twist-lock suction cup is specifically engineered to minimize movement and vibration compared to standard adhesive mounts.
• Best for Pickup Trucks (Stealth) → SoeKoa Dash Cam Mirror: In a large cabin, hiding the camera behind the mirror maintains the clean lines of the truck's interior.
• Best for Pickup Trucks (Utility) → APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount: If you need a large map or navigation aid while hauling cargo, the large screen visibility of the APPS2Car is far more practical.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the APPS2Car CarPlay Screen Mount for my primary vehicle. The versatility of being able to mount a large screen on the dashboard provides a level of utility that a hidden mirror mount simply cannot match. While the SoeKoa is a clever piece of hardware for a specific niche, the ability to adjust a 10-inch display to eliminate glare and keep navigation in plain sight makes it the superior daily driver solution. However, if I were to equip a second vehicle, specifically a pickup truck, I would choose the SoeKoa Dash Cam Mirror. In a truck, the sheer size of the cabin often encourages cluttered setups, and having a dash cam tucked away behind the mirror keeps the windshield clear for better visibility while towing or hauling. Ultimately, the APPS2Car wins on pure functionality, but the SoeKoa wins on discretion.
