How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want a lightweight, team-branded pair of true wireless stereo earbuds with a battery readout on the case, choose SOAR Collegiate True; if you need secure ear-hook sport buds with a newer Bluetooth chip, a longer total runtime and serious sweat protection, choose PEFUPEW Earbuds.
• SOAR Collegiate True – biggest strength: A simple, lightweight in-ear design with an LED display on the case, 44 hours of total playtime and a 30-foot Bluetooth range.
• SOAR Collegiate True – biggest trade-off: Bluetooth 5.0, no noise control at all, and only a 1-year limited warranty.
• PEFUPEW Earbuds – biggest strength: Bluetooth 5.4 with a 40 ms low-latency design, 48 hours total, 14.2 mm drivers, four ENC microphones, IP7 splash/sweat resistance and a 2-year warranty.
• PEFUPEW Earbuds – biggest trade-off: Over-ear hooks and a bulkier case that weighs 58 g, which is more gear to carry than a tiny in-ear set.
• Who SOAR Collegiate True is for: Fans who want discreet buds in team colors for casual listening, calls and game day.
• Who PEFUPEW Earbuds are for: Runners, gym-goers and anyone who wants buds that stay locked in during hard movement.
The SOAR Collegiate True is a classic in-ear bud with a plastic build and a plastic charging case, in a team colorway with a multicolor case. It runs Bluetooth 5.0 and reaches about 30 feet, which is normal living-room and gym-bag range. Audio comes from a dynamic driver with a frequency response up to 20,000 Hz, so it covers the full top end of the audible range.
Battery is the headline here. SOAR lists 10 hours of music and talk time per charge, a 10-hour charge time, and a total of 44 hours when you count the case. The case has an LED screen showing remaining battery, which is genuinely handy — you can see how much is left instead of guessing from a blinking light. Controls are touch-based media controls: answer and end calls, play and pause, and skip through your playlist without pulling out your phone. There's a built-in mic for hands-free calls, and the box includes a cable, eartips and the charging case.
PEFUPEW Earbuds: Who It's For
The PEFUPEW Earbuds take a different approach entirely. These are over-ear sport buds with flexible ear hooks, made from ABS, in Rose Gold with an L-Pink case. The hook design is the whole point: it holds the bud against your ear so it doesn't pop out mid-sprint. Model C6, 58 g for the case.
The spec sheet reads like a sports-first build. Bluetooth 5.4, with an enhanced low-latency design quoted at a 40-millisecond audio delay and a 15-meter range. The drivers are 14.2 mm dynamic units with 32 ohm impedance and a 20 Hz–20,000 Hz range, and the tuning is described as bass-forward. Four ENC microphones cut background noise on calls, which matters if you take meetings from a noisy street or a busy gym floor. Noise control is passive — sound isolation, not active cancellation.
Battery: 48 hours total, up to 8 hours per charge at 50% volume, and the case gives roughly 4–5 extra charges. Charging is USB-C and takes about 1.5 hours, with a dual LED display on the case. Touch controls handle music and calls, with the brand claiming higher touch accuracy to cut false taps. IP7 means sweat and rain resistance — the sheet is clear that this is not for swimming or underwater use. Warranty is 2 years. Buy these if you train hard and want buds that stay put, last all week and shrug off sweat. Skip them if you want something tiny and invisible, or if you prefer a wired 3.5 mm option — these have no jack.
• Best for battery life → PEFUPEW Earbuds at 48 hours total, versus 44 hours for the SOAR set.
• Best for secure fit during workouts → PEFUPEW Earbuds, thanks to the flexible ear hooks.
• Best for sweat and rain → PEFUPEW Earbuds, rated IP7; SOAR lists no water resistance.
• Best for clear calls in noisy places → PEFUPEW Earbuds, with four ENC microphones.
• Best for the newest wireless connection → PEFUPEW Earbuds on Bluetooth 5.4, with lower latency for video and gaming.
• Best for a pocketable, team-branded look → SOAR Collegiate True, in team colors with a lightweight in-ear shape.
• Best for a simple battery readout → Both have it — SOAR uses an LED screen, PEFUPEW uses a dual LED display.
• Best for warranty coverage → PEFUPEW Earbuds at 2 years, versus SOAR's 1-year limited.
• Best for long-range wandering from your device → SOAR Collegiate True at roughly 30 feet, versus 15 meters for PEFUPEW.
• Best for fast recharging → PEFUPEW Earbuds at about 1.5 hours; SOAR lists a 10-hour charge time.
If I were buying for myself, I'd take the PEFUPEW Earbuds. In my opinion, the newer Bluetooth 5.4 connection, the 48-hour total runtime, the 14.2 mm drivers, the four-microphone call clarity, the IP7 rating and the 2-year warranty add up to a more capable pair for the way most people actually use earbuds — moving around, sweating, taking calls. The SOAR Collegiate True makes sense if team colors and a compact in-ear fit matter more to you than sport durability. Either way, check the current price on Amazon before you commit, since that's the one thing specs can't tell you.
how to connect true wireless stereo earbuds
Take both buds out of the case so they power on and pair with each other, then open your phone's Bluetooth menu, look for the earbud name and select it. After the first pairing, both of these sets should reconnect automatically when you take them out near your device — the SOAR set uses Bluetooth 5.0 and the PEFUPEW set uses Bluetooth 5.4.
how to use true wireless stereo earbuds
Both pairs use touch controls, so you tap the bud to play or pause, answer or end calls and skip tracks rather than pressing a physical button. SOAR's sheet lists media control on the buds; PEFUPEW's lists binaural touch control for music and calls. Because taps can misfire, it helps to learn your specific tap pattern before you rely on it mid-run.
how to charge true wireless stereo earbuds
Drop the buds back into the charging case and connect the case to a power source — SOAR includes a cable, and PEFUPEW includes a USB-C cable. SOAR lists a 10-hour charge time, while PEFUPEW lists about 1.5 hours. Both cases show remaining battery on an LED display, so you can see when a top-up is needed.
how to turn on true wireless stereo earbuds
With true wireless buds, taking them out of the charging case is normally what turns them on and starts pairing; putting them back in turns them off and starts charging. If they don't wake up, charge the case first, then remove the buds and check your device's Bluetooth list. Neither of these sets has a power button listed, so the case is your on/off switch.
