Published in 2013, Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover follows eighteen-year-old Daniel and a chance encounter in the dark with a girl which leads them to profess their love for each other. But this love has conditions: they agree it will last only one hour, and it will be only make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them seemed perfect only because they were pretending it was. Moments like that happen only in fairy tales.

However, on a slight side note, the audio narration of this book did not work at all. The male narrator was much older than the characters involved, so I thought it actually made the story feel quite perverted at the start so it took me a while to get into.

Finding Cinderella was published in 2013 and it has since experienced a revival thanks to the popularity of author Colleen Hoover on the BookTok and Bookstagram circuit. Essentially a modern fairytale, Finding Cinderella is a novella that encompasses themes of fate, kindred spirits, chance, challenges and big feelings. One to pick up on a lazy afternoon, Finding Cinderella is a great counterpart to the Hopeless series.

Rad Daly was a voice student of mine at the time. He was in the Bad News Bears cast at Paramount. He happened to mention me during one of the rehearsals and the casting directors at Paramount took an interest in the idea of letting one of the Bears do some music. So Paramount called me and had me bring in some songs the next day. They loved this song and rewrote the episode around it, calling the episode, "Birds, the Bees, and the Bears." Paramount also hired me as music director for the song and vocal coach for the cast. Rad went on to do hundreds of commercials, including the singing apple in all of the Fruit of the Loom commercials. He was the son on the movie, 10, with Julie Andrews and Arthur Hamilton. The casting directors loved to watch me work with the kids and Penny Marshal got the idea to write a recurring role for me in Happy Days. Later, they offered me a cameo in Mork and Mindy. I wish I had taken them up on it! At the time I was just trying to be a successful songwriter and voice coach.

I have always loved Cinderella. When I was almost 2, we moved from St. Louis to the Chicago area in January. I got the Cinderella VHS for Christmas, making it the only movie not packed. I watched it on repeat! My love for this story started early. As I got older, the idea of making your path and changing your life became powerful. I know there is a lot of negative messages imbedded in fairy tales, but there are also empowering ones!

In my mind, there is no better recipe for a Cinderella Party than pumpkin recipes or cheese recipes for good old Jaq. I made a batch of Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats for my table. I also included some pink rock candy as Bippity Boppity Boo Wands! They also provide a nice splash of pink to the blue table.

I am so excited about how this cake turned out! The Sugar Path in Geneva, IL made the cake. It is a 4 layer vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. It was delicious and beautiful! While I have many creative skills, decorating cakes is not one of them so I rely on fabulous bakeries like The Sugar Path for their help. When deciding the decor for the cake, I wanted clean. Regal. I had an idea of a simple montage to the old pillows in stories, so I went with the diamond look.

The Floral Pomanders on the right side of the table is another DIY that turned out beautifully and could be used in the future for home decor or even Christmas decor. I placed them on top of three different candle stick holders which gives them nice height on the table. I will be sharing a full tutorial soon!

Does anybody know the differences between the two different versions of Cinderella that MTI licenses? They have the original and a more recent "Enchanted" edition. Does anybody have recommendations between them?

The regular version is 3 acts based on the 1957 Julie Andrews tv special, and clocks in around 2:30 (The Leslie Ann Warren clocks in at 80 mins and is not licensed; and yes, the 2013 Broadway version is not available of licensing either, and that is the MOST different, with entire new plots and characters and songs. Let's hope they make it available once the tour ends...).

Yes, the Enchanted edition is based on the Disney reboot with a multi-racial cast with Jason Alexander, Brandy, and Whitney Houston. It has R&H original songs with the additional songs included in that version. There is a solo for the stepmother, some additional songs for the herald, etc. Hope this helps.

We just finished a production of the 1957 version. The run time was only about 90 minutes, and we didn't take two intermissions. According to my Musical Director the Enchanted version is much longer.

In case some of you aren't on the R&H email bulletin, they announced today that the 2013 Broadway version of Cinderella is now available for licensing. This one, as Benjamin Stuart mentioned a few posts ago, is exciting and contemporary-- it gives Cinderella a lot more agency, makes her stronger and smarter, and gives more substantial reasons for Prince Topher (short for Christopher, naturally) to fall in love with her. Specifically, his kingdom is falling into rebellion, with the grand duke has been running the government corruptly while Prince was off at school (think Ella Enchanted), and wants to give to the rich and take from the poor. Cinderella knows about democracy and brings the message/complaints from the rabble poor to Topher. Gone are the king and queen, replaced by this grand duke character; there is still the herald. There is also the leader of the rebellion (who happens to be a love interest for the older and prettier stepsister), and the Fairy G exists as the crazy woman in town until Cinderella is kind to her and she reveals her magic-ness. A lot of contemporary jokes, and several new interpolated songs. I love this version, but you have to like this kind of show-- it's definitely not at all the original/classic, or even the Enchanted version, which is a 90s update/homage but still the same idea. This is a whole new musical.

At risk of going off on a tangent: another Cinderella story is looming on the horizon. The film Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998) which starred Drew Barrymore is being developed into a stage musical. It opens this month at Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ.

The story of Rags to Riches has been given a festive touch. Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother chuckle in the background as her wicked step-sister tries to slip her foot into the famous glass slipper that will win her the handsome Prince Charming. But what will true love have in store for this fairy tale Christmas? This is the only Wasgij Christmas puzzle that is a Mystery concept, so puzzle what will happen next in the scene. 152ee80cbc
