Hi, I’m Joshitha Velmurugan, a rising junior at North Creek High School.I aspire to become a physician specializing in neurology. I am a member of the National Honor Society (where I received two gold presidential awards) and FBLA (competing at Nationals). I founded NeuroPath, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and support for Alzheimer’s and epilepsy through education and community engagement. Outside academics, I am passionate about dance, having completed a Bharatnatyam Arangetram and I currently volunteer as a dance teacher at Nrityalaya School of Dance. I danced in 3 major bharatanatyam dance productions as well. My dance team also placed 2nd at a national competition on Flowers TV USA. Additionally, I play bass in Geetanjali (a non-profit fundraising band) and love to sing and play the piano. Volunteering at Kaiser Permanente has strengthened my passion for medicine and commitment to compassionate care. As a dancer and varsity badminton player, I believe that to do all these activities proper nutrition is necessary so one can also stay healthy. I am excited to be a co-founder of the Seattle Nutrition Initiative to be able to create awareness and help educate others about the importance that nutrition plays in one’s life.
