While admiring a bright red rose blooming during a white winter, Queen Eleanor of Tabor pricks her finger on its thorns. Three drops of blood fall onto the snow, and she wishes for a daughter with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, hair as black as a raven's wings, and a heart as strong as the rose.

The Huntsman is one of the two title characters in the film Snow White and the Huntsman, played by Chris Hemsworth.[6] Eric is a huntsman whose wife, Sara, was seemingly killed while he was fighting in a war. After Snow White escapes into the Dark Forest, Queen Ravenna and her brother Finn make a bargain with Eric the Huntsman to capture Snow White, promising to bring his wife back to life in exchange. The Huntsman tracks down Snow White, but when Finn reveals that Ravenna does not actually have the power to do what she promised, the Huntsman fights him and his men while Snow White runs away. Throughout the film, Eric becomes Snow White's ally in the fight against Queen Ravenna. His allegiance slowly becomes both absolute (after finding himself smitten by the same purity in the princess that he loved in his wife) and resolute (after the revelation of the Queen's duplicity having been the cause of the death of his wife).

The Huntsman: [narration] Once upon a time, in deep winter, a queen was admiring the falling snow, when she saw a rose blooming in defiance of the cold. Reaching for it she pricked her finger and three drops of blood fell. And because the red seemed so alive against the white she thought, "If only I had a child as white as snow, lips as red as blood, hair as black as a raven's wings, and all with the strength of that rose." Soon after a daughter was born to the queen and was named Snow White.

The dwarves lead them to my favorite realm in the film, an enchanting fairyland, which is a triumph of art direction and CGI. Mushrooms open their eyes and regard the visitors. Cute forest animals scamper and gambol in tribute to a forest scene in Disney's 1937 animated film. The fairies themselves are naked, pale-skinned sprites with old, wise faces. The spirit of this forest is embodied by a great white stag with expressive eyes and horns that spread in awesome complexity. This is a wonderful scene. The director, Rupert Sanders, who began in TV commercials, is clearly familiar with establishing memorable places.

The queen, with a forced backstory, ends up being some power-hungry villain from the story book cupboard of stock bad guys. Snow White is simply a plot device. The huntsman is the typical reluctant hero with pain in his past. The dwarves are simply comic relief that never live up to their original purpose. The other characters are simply inserted into the story to fill up names in the credits.

After the battle, it is implied that he and Snow White was married and was crowned King of Tabor. Some time after Ravenna's death, he sought out Eric and informed him that the Magic Mirror was taken while en route to a place known as "Sanctuary". William informed Eric that Snow White was suffering being negatively impacted by the Mirror's power. Eric reluctantly set off with Snow White's dwarf ally Nion and his half-brother Gryff to find the Magic Mirror, unaware that Freya had been secretly observing their conversation through a mask that projected her consciousness in the form of a snowy owl. William returned to Tabor to be with Snow White.

After Snow White (Stewart) escapes from the city, there is a white horse just ... there. Hanging out on the rocks near an ocean cliff. Waiting. As horses like to do, apparently. If Snow and this horse had developed a lasting relationship throughout the film, I could almost sum this up to some sort of emotional bond that Snow has with nature. And maybe that's still the case. But the way it's presented, there really was just a convenient horse hanging out near the ocean. Perhaps he just went there looking for a time of quiet reflection?

At first I was thinking, Oh, is that the spirit of Snow White's father? But that doesn't seem to be the case. Director Rupert Sanders explained the Stag metaphorically as nature giving its blessing to Snow White. Which, yes, is fine, but everyone in the forest seemed to recognize this stag as some sort of king of the forest. Actually, up until this point, this is still fine -- I can accept all of this. But, then, after the stag is shot with an arrow, it transforms itself into a flock of white doves and flies away. OK? As we see later, Queen Ravenna can do the same thing, only as ravens. Speaking of...

In this big screen adaptation of the story, Snow White is tough warrior princess, with a huntsman (hired by the evil queen) on her tail. But when the huntsman and Snow White come face to face, allegiances change and an epic quest to vanquish the evil queen ensues.

Filming also took place at Cathedral Rock in the Lake District and Marloes Sands in Pembrokeshire, Wales, where the crew spent an entire week filming Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman and their rallied troops during an epic battle.

Finally, Freya has a magic feather mask. When she puts on the mask, her consciousness is projected into an owl (apparently made of snow), and she can use it to spy on people. After all, she needs to make sure people don't fall in love, and the best way to do that is spy on them with a completely inconspicuous snow-white owl.

Snow White and the Huntsman is an action-packed, modern retelling of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale. In this dark and gritty version of the story, Snow White is no longer a helpless princess - instead, she is a brave warrior ready to take on her evil stepmother, Queen Ravenna. After escaping her imprisonment, Snow White joins forces with the huntsman Eric and sets off on a mission to overthrow Ravenna once and for all. Along their journey, they are aided by seven powerful dwarves and battle some of Queen Ravenna's most loyal minions. It's an epic adventure full of danger, romance, and hope culminating in a thrilling final confrontation between Snow White and Queen Ravenna.

The ads for Snow White and the Huntsman show a glum Kristen Stewart dressed for battle, obviously playing the huntsman. Hold the phone, she's Snow White. Another storybook heroine turned warrior! Just like the princess in this year's first Snow White picture, Mirror Mirror, who not only goes mano a mano with her patronizing, patriarchal prince, but tells him she's sick of stories in which damsels take their distress lying down.

The Huntsman follows the princess to a secluded glade in the forest, where she picks wildflowers. As she notices a baby bird and helps it to find its parents, the huntsman, after checking to see that the two are alone, begins to quietly advance on her, wielding his dagger. Just as the baby bird has flown away, Snow White sees a shadow on the rock in front of her and, turning around to see the advancing, dagger-wielding huntsman, shrieks in terror. The Huntsman hesitates, however, and finally drops the dagger from his trembling hand, realizing he cannot murder someone as pure as Snow White. Kneeling before the princess (and awkwardly wiping his tears in her dress) he pleads her to forgive him, and reveals that the Queen wants her dead out of jealousy. She takes his advice and flees into a deeper part of the forest, eventually coming to the residence of the seven dwarfs.

The Huntsman is a crucial character in the series and is played by Jamie Dornan. He was raised by wolves and lives in the Enchanted Forest with a white wolf as his sole companion. He is immensely compassionate towards animals, believing they have the purest hearts and mourns any he must kill to survive. When several tavern patrons mock his beliefs and assault him, he easily overpowers them while expressing his disgust for human nature, attracting the Queen's attention via the Magic Mirror as somebody merciless enough to retrieve Snow White's heart. While initially hesitant of the Queen's request, the Huntsman bargains with her to outlaw the hunting of wolves within her kingdom and accepts. When the Huntsman escorts Snow White into the woods, she flees after sensing his intentions but soon realizes she cannot outrun him there. She accepts her fate and the Huntsman agrees to hand an impromptu letter to the Queen along with her heart, but the sympathetic letter overwhelms him and he encourages her to escape. The Queen, unmoved and frustrated by the letter, is further enraged upon realizing the Huntsman has handed her a stag's heart. The Queen tears out the Huntsman's heart, using dark magic to make him an unwilling soldier and servant of her intimate desires. Much later, the Huntsman assists Prince Charming out of the Queen's castle due to their shared adoration for Snow White. Soon after, the Queen initiates the Dark Curse and transports all fairytale inhabitants to the town of Storybrooke in our world, where the Huntsman assumes the identity of Graham Humbert, the town sheriff.

With the Queen now Mayor of Storybrooke, Graham retains an unquestioning obedience to her will and lust. Emma Swan's arrival begins weakening the Dark Curse, which eventually leads Graham to defy the Mayor's orders to arrest her. After Graham enlists Emma as his Deputy, she catches him exiting the Mayor's bedroom window and expresses her loss of faith in him. The next day, he spontaneously kisses Emma in a desperate attempt to feel some form of compassion, but it sparks a sudden and confusing flashback of his former life as the Huntsman. Graham returns to the Mayor for attempted love and comfort, where a dream containing the white wolf furthers his confusion. Upon leaving the house, Graham is confronted by the white wolf and later pursues it into the surrounding forest. The wolf recognizes Graham but reacts cautiously because he is somehow different, until Graham whistles and it approaches him in a friendly manner. When Graham makes contact with the wolf, he has strange visions of Snow White and his supposed murdering of her, and the wolf departs again. Graham visits Mary Margaret because she resembles the woman in his dream, wondering if they could have met in a previous life. be457b7860
