SnapMux Studio ("we", "our", or "us") operates the SnapMux - Video & Image Downloader Chrome Extension. We are firmly committed to user privacy and data security.
1. Zero Personal Data Collection
SnapMux Studio DOES NOT collect, store, sell, log, or transmit any personal identification information (PII) to external servers.
- We do not track your browsing history.
- We do not collect cookies, logins, passwords, or personal credentials.
- We do not run any third-party tracking scripts, analytics SDKs, or advertising networks inside the extension.
2. Client-Side Local Processing
All media extraction, video muxing, format conversion (MP4, MKV, MOV, MP3, WAV), and ZIP compression run 100% locally within your browser using client-side JavaScript, HTML5 Canvas, Web Audio API, and WebAssembly. No media files or downloaded content ever pass through external servers.
3. Permissions Explanation
In strict adherence to the Google Chrome Web Store Single Purpose Policy, SnapMux requests only minimal permissions necessary:
- downloads: Required exclusively to save media files and ZIP archives directly to your local computer's download folder.
- storage: Used solely to save your local UI preferences (Dark/Light theme) and Pro license activation status locally on your browser.
- activeTab & scripting: Required only when you explicitly open the SnapMux popup to inspect media elements on the active web page.
- webRequest: Used to detect direct media segment manifests (HLS .m3u8 playlists) so videos can be extracted and muxed seamlessly.
- offscreen: Enables hardware-accelerated Web Audio decoding and background audio extraction tasks without freezing browser performance.
- Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Necessary because SnapMux is a universal media utility designed to allow users to download public media from any website they visit.
4. License Key Verification
If you purchase SnapMux PRO, license verification is conducted securely and directly between your browser and Gumroad's official API (api.gumroad.com). We store only the verified status and your masked license key locally in your browser's private Chrome storage.
5. Third-Party Services
SnapMux does not share data with any third parties. When paying for SnapMux PRO, payment processing is handled independently by Gumroad (Merchant of Record). We never have access to your credit card numbers or financial details.
