SnapBackup: Snapchat Memories (“SnapBackup”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the SnapBackup mobile application handles information when you use our app.
SnapBackup is designed to help you import, organize, protect, and back up your personal Snapchat Memories using files that you provide to the app.
SnapBackup is an independent third-party application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Snapchat, Snap Inc., Google, or Google Drive.
Depending on the features you use, SnapBackup may access the following information.
When you import a Snapchat export into SnapBackup, the app may access:
Photos
Videos
Media filenames
File sizes
Media types
Dates and times contained in available metadata
Other metadata contained in the export
This information is used to import, organize, display, manage, and back up your Memories.
SnapBackup accesses files only when you explicitly select them through the Android file picker or another supported system file-selection mechanism.
SnapBackup does not require your Snapchat username, password, or Snapchat account login credentials.
SnapBackup may process limited device information that is necessary to operate the application, such as available storage information, application settings, network connectivity status, and device capabilities required for backup and media processing.
We do not use this information to identify you personally unless explicitly stated in this Privacy Policy.
SnapBackup is designed with local processing as a core principle.
When you import a Snapchat export, the application processes the selected files on your device to:
identify supported media
extract photos and videos
read available metadata
create thumbnails
organize Memories
detect duplicate files
calculate storage usage
prepare files for backup
Your imported media is not automatically uploaded to SnapBackup's own servers merely because you import it.
If you choose to use a cloud backup provider, the selected media may be transmitted directly from your device to the cloud destination you authorize.
SnapBackup does not directly access your Snapchat account.
You are responsible for obtaining your Snapchat Memories export through Snapchat's available export tools and then providing the downloaded export file to SnapBackup.
SnapBackup does not request or store:
your Snapchat password
your Snapchat login credentials
your Snapchat authentication tokens
SnapBackup does not attempt to access private Snapchat APIs or bypass Snapchat security mechanisms.
SnapBackup can allow you to connect your own Google Drive account for backup purposes.
When you choose to connect Google Drive, you will be taken through Google's authorization process. SnapBackup requests only the permissions necessary for the Google Drive backup features you choose to use.
Depending on the implementation and Google authorization scope used by the app, SnapBackup may create and manage files and folders associated with the SnapBackup backup functionality in your Google Drive.
For example, your backups may be organized under a folder such as:
My Drive / SnapBackup /
SnapBackup does not need your Google password and does not ask you to provide your Google password directly to the app.
Google Drive authorization is handled through Google's authentication system.
Google recommends that applications request the narrowest OAuth scope necessary for their functionality; for example, drive.file provides access limited to files created or opened with the app rather than unrestricted access to a user's entire Drive. The exact scope used by the production app should match what is actually configured in the Google Cloud project and the OAuth consent screen.
If you authorize Google Drive backup, SnapBackup uses the authorized access only to perform features such as:
creating the SnapBackup backup folder
uploading Memories you choose to back up
checking the status of files associated with your SnapBackup backups
managing backups created through SnapBackup
restoring files when you request restoration
SnapBackup does not intentionally access unrelated files in your Google Drive beyond the permissions required by the selected integration.
Google Drive permissions and access remain subject to Google's own account and API controls.
Google's Drive API supports creating folders and uploading files into a specified folder.
Imported Memories and related metadata may be stored locally on your Android device so that you can browse and manage them inside SnapBackup.
Local data may include:
photos
videos
thumbnails
filenames
media metadata
backup status
application settings
If you enable Google Drive backup or another supported cloud provider, your selected media is stored in the cloud account you authorize.
Cloud-stored files are subject to the terms, privacy policies, and security controls of the relevant cloud provider.
SnapBackup is designed to minimize unnecessary transmission of your personal media.
When data is transferred to supported cloud providers, communication uses secure HTTPS/TLS connections provided by the relevant APIs and services.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect information handled by the application.
Where authentication credentials or authorization tokens need to be retained on your device, they are stored using appropriate secure Android mechanisms where supported.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
SnapBackup does not sell your personal information or personal Memories to third parties.
We do not use your personal photos or videos for advertising purposes.
We do not provide your Snapchat Memories to advertisers.
SnapBackup may integrate with third-party services required to provide optional functionality, such as Google Drive.
When you use an integrated third-party service, information may be processed by that service according to its own privacy policy and terms.
For Google services, please review Google's applicable privacy and service policies.
If additional third-party services such as analytics, crash reporting, customer support, advertising, or authentication services are introduced into SnapBackup, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe those services and the information they process.
If you enable Automatic Backup, SnapBackup may automatically process and synchronize eligible Memories that have already been imported into the app, subject to your selected backup settings.
For example, you may choose settings such as:
Wi-Fi only
automatic backup
backup videos
backup quality
backup verification
Automatic backup does not mean that SnapBackup continuously accesses your Snapchat account or automatically downloads new Memories directly from Snapchat.
New Memories must first be imported into SnapBackup through a supported user-controlled import process.
SnapBackup may maintain backup metadata such as:
backup status
upload status
synchronization progress
file identifiers
file sizes
timestamps
verification status
This information is used to determine whether a Memory has been successfully backed up and to avoid unnecessary duplicate uploads.
Where supported, SnapBackup may verify uploaded files by comparing information such as file existence, file size, or checksums.
SnapBackup may provide features that help you identify Memories that have already been backed up and verified so you can choose whether to free local device storage.
SnapBackup does not automatically delete your original Memories solely because a backup succeeds.
Any cleanup or deletion action should require your explicit choice.
Deleting a local file from your device does not necessarily delete a copy that exists in your Google Drive backup, unless you separately choose to delete that cloud copy through an available feature.
You control the personal media stored on your device and in your connected cloud storage accounts.
You may:
delete imported Memories from your device
disconnect Google Drive
remove SnapBackup backup files from Google Drive
uninstall the SnapBackup application
revoke Google account authorization through your Google Account settings
SnapBackup does not claim ownership of your photos or videos.
If SnapBackup introduces any server-side account system or server-side storage in the future, the applicable retention and deletion practices will be described in an updated Privacy Policy.
You may disconnect your Google Drive account from SnapBackup using the relevant settings provided by the application.
You may also manage or revoke third-party application access through your Google Account settings.
After authorization is revoked, SnapBackup will no longer be able to use the revoked Google Drive authorization.
Revoking access does not automatically delete files that were previously uploaded to your Google Drive. Those files remain subject to your Google Drive controls unless you delete them.
SnapBackup is not specifically directed at children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the purpose of operating a child-directed service.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us in a way that requires deletion, please contact us using the information below.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights relating to your personal information.
You may control your Memories by:
choosing what files to import
choosing whether to enable cloud backup
choosing which cloud account to connect
disconnecting cloud services
deleting local media
deleting cloud backup files
uninstalling the application
You can also control Google Drive access through your Google Account settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in:
application features
data practices
third-party integrations
legal or regulatory requirements
security practices
When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of SnapBackup after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the updated policy.
