The Kerala State Initiative on Dementia, SMRUTHIPATHAM, is a pioneering effort by the Kerala State Government, Social Justice Department, and the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI). Launched through Government Order (RT) No. 519/2014 SJD on 13.08.2014, the program focuses on providing comprehensive care and support for individuals affected by dementia. SMRUTHIPATHAM operates two dedicated facilities: a full-time Dementia Care Centre in Edavanakkad, Ernakulam, and a Dementia Day Care Centre in Kunnamkulam, Thrissur District. These centres offer a range of free services, including memory clinic medicine, therapies, counselling, home visits, and outdoor activities. By emphasizing community-based care and empowerment, SMRUTHIPATHAM aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with dementia and their families, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for dignity and independence.
