Matt Mason has published many books and chapbooks of his poetry, and run poetry workshops around the world under the auspices of the U. S. State Department. He is credited with having brought slam poetry to Nebraska. He served as Executive Director of the Nebraska Writers Collective from 2009-2022, and has been the Nebraska State Poet Laureate from 2020 through 2024, and. In October of 2024 was proud to have completed a toured all 93 Nebraska counties, giving poetry readings in each.
(On January 6, Jewel Rodgers, of Omaha, was selected to follow Matt as Nebraska’s next State Poet Laureate for 2025 –through 2029.)
