"A Sacred Space is a point of focus for prayer, reflection and displaying children's work that enhances the school’s Catholic identity."
~ Dublin Education Secretariat ~
Each classroom has its own sacred space. This is a place where religious symbols and items are on display.
Our school's sacred space is in the main foyer. In this area there is a statue of Our Lady which came from St Elizabeth's Convent National School.
We also have a framed photograph of His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, which was a gift from Bishop Paul Connell, our school's patron.
In addition, a banner with our school prayer is on display here and there are banners placed in this area each month to remind us of each month's religious dedication listed below.

Advent / Christmas
During Advent, our school community prepares for Christmas. Over four weeks, our journey reflects on hope, peace, joy and love. Through prayer, service and kindness, we ready our hearts for the Light of the World and embrace the true spirit of Christmas.
Our Nativity Crib is placed in our school's sacred space at the beginning of Advent and remains in place until Candlemas (2nd February). The figures in our crib came from St Elizabeth's Convent National School.
The Paschal Journey
From Ash Wednesday to Pentecost Sunday, our school community walks with Jesus through reflection and celebration. We journey through Lent's preparation, Holy Week's sacrifice, Easter's joy, and the Holy Spirit's transformative gift on Pentecost. Through liturgy, prayer and service, we deepen our faith and grow together. Throughout this period, we encounter Jesus' love and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Our Latin Cross
The cross is an important symbol for Christians. To mark the important events of The Paschal Journey, our Latin Cross is placed in our school's sacred space on Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, and remains in place until our Summer Holidays.
Lent
During Lent, our school's Latin Cross is draped with a purple cloth to remind us of Jesus' journey to crucifixion, the call to repentance and self-reflection. It is a time for spiritual growth and preparation for Easter.
Easter
After Easter, our school's Latin Cross is draped with a white cloth to remind us of Jesus' Resurrection and his victory over death. It is a time of joy and hope, celebrating new life and triumph.
Ascension
After Ascension Thursday, our school's Latin Cross is draped with a gold cloth to remind us of Jesus' ascension to Heaven, representing victory and glory. It is a time of hope and promise for Christians.
Pentecost
After Pentecost Sunday, our school's Latin Cross is draped with a red cloth to remind us of Jesus' promise to send the Holy Spirit - a constant presence in our lives equipping us to spread God's love and message.
The Stations of The Cross
Upstairs, we have fourteen beautifully restored Stations of the Cross that were donated to St Elizabeth's Convent National School by Mr Bernard Noonan.
The Stations of the Cross commemorate Jesus' last day on Earth (Good Friday) and each station depicts a moment on Jesus' journey to Calvary.
The fourteen Stations of the Cross are:
Jesus is condemned to death.
Jesus carries the Cross.
Jesus falls for the first time.
Jesus meets His mother, Mary.
Simon helps Jesus carry His Cross.
Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.
Jesus falls a second time.
Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem.
Jesus falls a third time.
Jesus is stripped of His garments.
Jesus is nailed to the Cross.
Jesus dies on the Cross.
Jesus’ body is removed from the Cross.
Jesus is laid in the Tomb.
