Illness
As everyone is susceptible to infection and illness, infections in schoolchildren are common. Schools are ideal places for the spread of infectious illnesses because of the large numbers of children in close contact with each other, some of whom may not have developed immunity to various illnesses.
General Illness
Children should not be in school if they are ill. Please keep your child at home until they are well enough to be at school all day.
If your child becomes unwell during the school day, their class teacher or our secretary will contact you. A non-contact infrared thermometer may be used to ascertain if your child has a temperature.
It is crucial that parent and emergency contact phone numbers are up-to-date. In the event that contact cannot be made, the school will call our local doctor and / or an ambulance if the illness becomes concerning.
Infectious illness
Please notify the school if your child has any of the infectious illnesses listed below as a notification about the illness will be sent to other parents. An information letter for each illness is available below.
If you are pregnant and have been exposed to any of the illnesses marked with a red asterisk * you should contact your doctor.
