I, Steve, went to Colombia S.A. in 1991 as an associate teacher with New Tribes Mission (now known as Ethnos 360) to teach at Hope Academy, a school for missionary kids (MK’s). I taught a variety of Jr/Sr High classes and saw how teachers could play a support role in seeing missionaries reach the unreached people groups of Colombia with the Gospel by providing an education for their children. During his time in Colombia, I met Martha, the daughter of national missionaries who also had a desire to serve in missions. We were married in 1994, the same year that the school was closed due to the kidnapping of two co-workers who were later killed in captivity. We returned to the states and entered mission training to become full time members to continue serving in MK education. In 1998 we moved with our two children to Panama to teach MK’s at Escuela Hogar Misionero until it was closed in 2006. In 2007, our family moved to Chihuahua Mexico to teach at Colegio Binimea where we served for the last 18 years. We now plan to return to Colombia with Ethnos 360 to serve with our global partners, Nuevos Horizontes, in a new role beginning in June of 2026.
