Church Magazines
The First Presidency encourages all members to read the Church magazines. The magazines can help members learn the gospel of Jesus Christ, study the teachings of living prophets, feel connected to the global Church family, face challenges with faith, and draw closer to God.
A free print subscription to these magazines is available to you at MagazineSubscriptions.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. If you would like assistance in subscribing or renewing, please contact Layne Hansen.
Ward History Submissions
Each year our ward submits a unit history to highlight faith-building experiences. The Church recently made a change in how this history is submitted. Individuals are now invited to submit their own stories, such as family miracles, stories of faith, and youth experiences (trek, camps, etc). These will be reviewed by the Bishop and then passed along to the Church.
We encourage anyone who would like to share an experience or story to submit it using the following link:
Smithfield 17th Ward History Submission Form
Per the Church's Unit History Page:
Stories will be reviewed by local leaders, and members will be able to see approved stories online from their own ward or stake. Stories submitted through the Unit History tool will be automatically saved and archived.
Preparing and submitting these histories helps fulfill the Lord’s charge: “Continue in writing and making a history of all the important things … concerning my church. … And also, my servants who are abroad in the earth should send forth the accounts of their stewardships” (Doctrine and Covenants 69:3, 5).
Many of us would like to get started with family history work but don’t know quite where to start. There are many, many online resources to help! If you’re looking for some motivation or instruction to get started with family history work we invite you to watch any of the videos linked below.
