This series explores ways in which the natural interacts with the constructed to expand the notion of the bodily and the self. In the intimate embodiment of the external and the artificial, the work highlights the shape-shifting nature of human becoming in the face of evolving landscapes.
" the human that is post-human is an alchemist, who is self-transmuting to find the universal elixir.. "
this installation was performed with a self-reflective, non-dual identity embodied by the artist in multiple facets; image, sculpture, and mark-making
The motif of the window presents an entry point into the embodiment of the external in bodily iterations.
For the works in this series, I welcome the outside in by observing the various shadows and reflections of the window grill performing on the walls of my bedroom.
I offer intimacy and archive the everyday temporalitiesthrough acts of tracing these reflections. Suspending these traces in three-dimensional forms I offer them a bodily life.
In its fluid and reflective materialities, I present the works to perform with and for the audience.
In extracting the essence of the subject matter through acts of conceptual tracing and mirroring these drawings and sculpturesrepresent the body in its many visceral formations by rooting the self in the center and extending it to mark its own. The artworks have become spaces for inner and outer worlds to correspond.
