2025 JUNIOR LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE MISSION STATEMENT

The SMHJA Junior Leadership Committee exists to grow a generation of equestrians who lead with kindness, integrity, and purpose. We believe leadership is not about being in charge, but about caring for those in our charge. Through collaboration, encouragement, and service, we aim to create a supportive community where every rider feels seen, valued, and inspired to grow—both in and out of the ring.

OUR OBJECTIVES

1. Foster Positive Peer Culture - Promote kindness, sportsmanship, and encouragement among riders at every SMHJA event.

2. Practice Leadership Through Service - Volunteer at shows and events to support the association and lead by example.

3. Build Communication and Teamwork Skills - Collaborate with fellow JLC members to plan activities, solve problems, and strengthen our community.

4. Promote Rider Recognition - Develop and support programs that spotlight rider achievements, milestones, and personal growth.

5. Host Educational and Social Events - Create engaging opportunities for riders to connect, learn, and grow together beyond the show ring.

6. Encourage Horsemanship and Responsibility - Champion values of care, responsibility, and continued learning in horsemanship and barn culture.

7. Inspire Future Leaders - Model leadership that invites others to get involved, take initiative, and believe in their ability to make a difference.
