JOIN SMHJA

SMHJA mission is to encourage excellent horsemanship, emphasize sportsmanship, and promote the Hunter Jumper discipline. We accomplish this mission through quality educational opportunities, a learning show environment, a strong focus on volunteer work, and of course our members.  Becoming a member of SMHJA allows you and your family access to this amazing community and all it has to offer. 

BEING A MEMBER OF SMHJA

Members of SMHJA help and support all of the educational and show opportunities and provide feedback to ensure that the association grows year over year.  Being a member of SMHJA allows you vote on current events and association changes. 

LEVELS OF MEMBERSHIP

INDIVIDUAL 

An individual membership ($45) is for a single person interested in being a of the SMHJA community, or rider (Amateur, Professional, or Junior) that wishes to ride in SMHJA approved shows.  You do not need to be a rider to join SMHJA through individual l membership.  Each member brings value to our organization. 

Individual memberships will have one vote for any items that must be approved through our general membership group.

FAMILY

A family membership ($55) is for a family that may have multiple people interested in being a of the SMHJA community and/or riders (Amateur, Professional, or Junior) that wish to ride in SMHJA approved shows.  You do not need to be a rider to join SMHJA through family membership.  Each member brings value to our organization. 

Family memberships will have two votes (regardless of the number of family members) for any items that must be approved through our general membership group.

RIDER STATUS

PROFESSIONAL

Professionals are riders who engage in activities described in the current USEF Rule Book and may compete in open classes.  Rider classification status must be provided on SMHJA membership form.

AMATEUR

Amateurs are riders 18 years old and over on December first of the previous year and who do not engage in activities that would classify him/her as a professional per the current USEF Rule Book.

JUNIOR

Juniors are riders 17 years old and younger on December first of the previous year.
