Common Themes:
I saw that Emily Ha and Kieran Bierne had similar reasons for taking this course. Like myself, they were drawn to this course for its examination of the impact of computers on media through the lens of history. Our shared interest lies in exploring how our perceptions have shifted over time as technology has advanced and how computers have transformed the media landscape. The interdisciplinary approach of combining technical and historical perspectives is what makes this course particularly intriguing to us.
Ethan Novicio and I share a passion for puzzle-based games, particularly chess and Tetris. This interest was not limited to just the two of us, as Tuong Tran also had a fondness for playing Tetris. In addition to our shared love for chess and Tetris, I also found common ground with Steven Grimshaw through our shared interest in Valorant. Ethan and I also had similar interests in the social medias that we used, which primarily centered around, TikTok, Discord, and iMessage. Tuong also had shared interests with Discord, and many of the video streaming platforms we use are shared.
I also noticed a common appreciation for K-Dramas amongst a few students, including Ashrita Vadlapatla and Brian Chen. Brian and I had many similarities on top of that, such as watching multiple levels of professional basketball and football, and even our music tastes in pop and rap music.
Part 2: Categorization Revisions
There are a few revisions that I would make on my page after viewing my peers' pages. For example, I would have included more school-related medias that I use, since school takes up a majority of my time. There are things such as Canvas, GMail, lectures, and even school-related Reddit posts that could have been categorized together into its own area. Another thing that I would do is redistribute some items so that my categories could be more distinct from each other. I could have added more topics related to my free time interests that were outside of sports and gaming, since that took up a very large portion of my hierarchy. I would include things that I do for fun that might not be as apparent, and just have more diverse breakdowns as a whole.
