This Privacy Policy explains how SmartToolsDev ("we", "us") handles information in every app we publish on Google Play under the developer name SmartToolsDev (each an "app"). It applies to all of our apps. Most of our apps are simple tools that keep what you create on your phone; the sections below say exactly what leaves your device, why, and who receives it.
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not run our own servers that receive your data.
What you enter or create in an app (notes, logs, health readings, recordings, photos, documents) stays on your device unless you choose to export or share it.
Our apps use Google services for ads, analytics, crash reports and in-app purchases. Those services receive device-level technical data described in section 3.
We do not sell your personal information.
The following is processed on your phone and is not sent to us, to our analytics, or to advertisers:
Content you enter. Habits, tasks, bills, reminders, notes, invoices and client details, plant and project logs, workout and fuel logs, and similar entries.
Health and wellness entries. Weight, blood pressure, heart-rate readings, mood check-ins, menstrual cycle data, fasting sessions, step counts and workout history. These are never used for advertising and never sent to analytics; analytics events may record that a feature was used (for example "entry saved"), never the values you entered.
Camera. Used by magnifier, mirror, camera, flashlight, QR-scanner and heart-rate apps. The heart-rate app reads light changes from your fingertip to estimate a pulse; it does not save images. Photos and videos are saved only when you tap save, to the location you choose.
Microphone. Used by the sound meter, guitar tuner, voice recorder, clap-to-find-phone and video-recording features. Audio is analysed in real time on the device. Only the voice recorder and video features keep audio, and only when you press record. The clap-finder listens in the background only while you have switched it on, and Android shows a persistent notification while it does.
Location. Used by the altimeter, speed tracker, compass, and qibla and prayer-times apps. Altitude, speed, direction and prayer times are calculated on the device, and your location is never sent to us, to analytics or to advertisers.
Photos, videos, audio and files you pick. Editing, compressing, blurring, watermarking, converting and sticker features run on the device. Face and subject detection uses Google ML Kit, which runs on the device; ML Kit may download its models through Google Play services and send Google anonymous usage metrics about the ML Kit feature itself.
Motion and device sensors. Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, step counter (Physical activity permission) and battery status are read on the device to power the tool.
Biometric app lock. Where an app offers a fingerprint or face lock, Android performs the check. We never receive biometric data.
Your phone's own backup (Android Backup to your Google account) may include an app's data if backup is turned on in your device settings. That backup is managed by Google under your account, and we cannot access it.
Our apps include the following Google services. They collect data automatically when the app runs.
Google AdMob (ads) receives advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device and app information, and ad interactions. Used to show ads that fund the free apps, measure them, and prevent fraud.
Google Analytics for Firebase receives app-instance ID, screens and feature events, session length, device model, OS version, country/region derived from the IP address. Used to understand which features are used and improve them.
Firebase Crashlytics receives crash traces, device state at the time of the crash, an installation ID. Used to find and fix crashes.
Firebase Remote Config receives an installation ID. Used to turn features and settings on or off without an app update.
Google Play services (in-app review, in-app updates, Play Games, billing): see section 4.
These services are operated by Google LLC under its own policies: Google Privacy Policy · How Google uses information from apps that use its services · Firebase privacy · Google ads policy.
Google Play Games. The word-search game can use your Google Play Games profile for leaderboards and achievements. Google shares your Play Games player ID and gamer name with the app. Whether others see you on a leaderboard follows your Play Games visibility settings.
In-app purchases. Purchases (for example "Pro" or removing ads) are processed by Google Play. The app learns whether you own a purchase. We never receive your card or payment details.
Local Wi-Fi file sharing. The file-sharing app sends files directly between devices on your local network. Files do not pass through our servers or any cloud service.
Sharing and exporting. When you tap Share or Export, the file or text goes to the app or destination you pick in Android's share sheet. We do not receive a copy.
Links. Opening a map, a web page, or a link found in a scanned QR code takes you to that site, which has its own privacy policy.
An app asks only for the permissions its features need. Android asks you before granting camera, microphone, location, physical activity, notifications, photos and media access, and you can revoke them in Settings at any time; the related feature then stops working, and the rest of the app continues. Other permissions an app may hold, and why:
Internet and network state: ads, analytics, crash reports and purchases.
Notifications, exact alarms, full-screen alarms, run at startup: reminders, alarms and timers that you set, and re-scheduling them after the phone restarts.
Foreground service: keeps audio playback, recording, timers, the anti-theft alarm, the clap-finder or the screen dimmer running while visible as a notification.
Display over other apps: the screen dimmer draws its filter over the screen. It cannot read what is on the screen.
Modify system settings, set wallpaper, change audio settings: screen brightness, live wallpapers and volume control.
Vibration, wake lock, flashlight: haptic feedback, keeping the screen on, and the torch.
Advertising ID: used by AdMob as described in section 3.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice later from Privacy options in the app's settings, where shown.
Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalization, in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads (wording varies by device). You will still see ads, but they will not be personalized.
Some US state laws treat letting ad partners use device identifiers for personalized ads as "sharing". Deleting your advertising ID as above opts you out of it.
Data stored on your device stays until you delete it in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
Firebase Analytics keeps event data for no longer than 14 months. Crashlytics keeps crash reports for 90 days. Google AdMob keeps advertising data under Google's retention policy.
We keep support emails only as long as needed to answer them.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or Canadian and US state privacy laws) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not hold accounts and cannot link analytics or ad identifiers to you, most of your information is under your own control on the device. For anything else, email us at the address below; we answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Our legal bases, where the GDPR applies: your consent for personalized ads; our legitimate interest in keeping the apps working and improving them for analytics and crash reports; and performance of a contract for in-app purchases.
Data sent to Google travels encrypted (HTTPS). Local Wi-Fi file transfers stay on your own network. Data on your device is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Some apps offer an optional app lock. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Google may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union, under its own safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Our apps are intended for adults and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the minimum age set by the law where they live. If you believe a child has provided personal information through one of our apps, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy when our apps change. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date.
