It's a pity that both SmartSlides and Animoto are subscription only. Whilst not over-expensive, it's yet another layout for those of us who just make an add-on show occasionally. When Animoto started, you could pay for individual high-res shows, which I would have thought would benefit both sides, with many users getting hooked and subscribing later, and those who don't at least paying more than if they don't subscribe.
I love this concept, but none of the samples really hit the beat with their transitions. Some of them start their transitions on the beat, which means the beat is well over by the time the transition is completed. Others miss the beat completely. They're still nice videos to watch, but I'm trying to figure out why they can't deliver on their single primary point-of-difference attribute. If I'm just missing something, let me know. Thanks!
I use Photodex Producer for my slideshows. Like other programs it has this feature built-in. You can use a wizard which gives you a decent starting point, but I find I'm always tweaking my shows anyways. While they may call this a "beat matching" feature, I think it's really just a "time matching" feature. A true beat matching feature would be one that uses AI to recognize your most impact-full images and sort them according to the tempo of the music track.
