About SmartGT
SmartGT connects your Android phone to a compatible motorcycle screen. This policy explains its display, location, trips, voice, notes, purchases, Ambassador program and support features. SmartGT has no account, no SmartGT server and no cloud storage: your data stays on your phone unless you choose to send it somewhere.
Settings and photos
SmartGT saves your bike connection details, language, Home layout and display settings privately on your phone. If you choose a background photo, it saves editing and cropped copies. These files are not uploaded to a SmartGT service. Your photo is sent to your bike when it is part of the display.
Setup and permissions
SmartGT's setup asks for the permissions its features need. All of them are required for SmartGT's full functionality: Bluetooth and nearby devices (to find and connect to your bike), precise location (GPS speed, trips, altitude and sunset times), notifications (the ride notification and its controls) and microphone (voice assistant and voice notes). You decide each permission in Android's own prompt. If you deny one, the feature that needs it is unavailable and the rest of SmartGT still works. You can change any permission later in Android settings. On Android 12 and 12L, Android also requires location permission to discover the motorcycle screen over Wi-Fi Direct; no location is read or kept for that.
Your motorcycle screen
SmartGT sends screen images directly to your paired motorcycle over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct and receives its button presses. The screen may show your photo, your trip numbers or Android Auto content, such as maps, music, messages and contact names. People nearby may see that content. SmartGT does not record the screen, your route or conversations. The local bike connection is not a promise of end-to-end encryption.
Location, speed and trips
With precise location, SmartGT reads GPS on the phone to show speed and travel direction, to run trips and ride recording (distance, moving time, stopped time, top speed and altitude climbed), to show the Altitude tile and to work out sunrise and sunset times for the Sunset tile. Readings are processed on the phone. SmartGT keeps only numbers for your trips and ride history: times, distances, speeds, climb and the lean and G-force maxima measured by the phone's sensors. If you turn on phone-temperature recording, it also keeps the highest reported phone temperature and time reported as hot. It does not save a route, coordinates or a location history, and it does not upload any of this.
Live location runs only while SmartGT needs it: during a bike or Preview session with the speed display, a trip or a location tile in use, and it can continue with the phone screen off during an active session so your trip keeps counting. It restarts by itself for a feature you turned on, and it stops when nothing needs it or when you stop it. Use Stop live location in SmartGT, or the Stop action in its location notification when Android shows it. Stopping ends ride recording and turns Trip 2 and Trip 3 off; the bike connection and voice features continue. You can also revoke location permission in Android settings. Weak or missing GPS is shown as unavailable; the editor's Preview sample is simulated.
Dashboard readings use the sensors available on your phone. Lean, G-force, barometer-based climb and phone temperature can work without GPS; some readings need calibration. Phone temperature comes from Android's battery-temperature and thermal-status readings, not the air around the bike. These readings are processed on the phone. Ride history stores the selected summary values, not a recording of every sensor reading.
Ride history keeps the number of recent rides you choose (five by default) on your phone. You can delete rides or lock a ride so it is not replaced. You can share one ride as a PDF report or share selected rides as text, using an app you choose. Reports contain ride dates, times and recorded numbers; a PDF also shows the selected bike model. Reports do not contain a route or coordinates. Nothing is sent automatically.
Voice assistant and Voice Notes
With microphone permission, SmartGT passes your voice request to Android Auto and Google Assistant on your phone, using your helmet headset when one is connected, either directly to your phone or through your bike's hands-free link, and otherwise the phone's microphone. The bike link may show call controls on the motorcycle screen. Google and Android Auto handle the request, the answer and later voice processing under their own policies and account settings. That processing may send information off your phone. SmartGT keeps its live request audio in memory only and does not save that audio or a transcript. Denying SmartGT microphone permission does not disable maps or music.
Voice Notes are different: you choose when to record and stop them. They are saved privately on your phone as audio files and play inside SmartGT. You can delete or share a Voice Note; a shared copy is controlled by its recipient.

Notes and exports
Ride Notes, Voice Notes and ride history are not uploaded to a SmartGT service. You can review, delete, share or export them. Exports include the notes or rides you select and their relevant details, such as dates. Note exports may also include the app version. You choose the receiving app or person, and that recipient controls its copy. Review notes before sharing them.
Ambassador codes
If you ask the publisher for Ambassador access from My bike, SmartGT prepares a request that you send yourself by email or another app. It contains the SmartGT edition, a one-way code made from an identifier Android gives SmartGT on this phone (the code cannot be turned back into the identifier; apps from other publishers see a different identifier, and it changes after a factory reset) and a random number that makes each request unique. The publisher uses it only to issue an access code that works on this phone, and keeps the request and the issued code to answer your email and to honour the access you were given. Nothing is sent unless you send it. The access code is saved privately on your phone; it contains no personal information.
Report a problem
SmartGT prepares the topic, what you were doing and the details you enter. An optional checkbox can add SmartGT and Android Auto versions, Android version, and phone maker and model. It is off by default. It does not automatically attach device IDs, location, recordings or logs. You can review and edit the report before choosing whether to send it from your email app. SmartGT does not send it itself. If no email app is available, you can copy the text. Avoid including private information you do not want to share.
Google Play purchases and diagnostics
This section applies to the released app. Beta versions include access and do not use Google Play billing (see Beta versions below).
SmartGT uses Google Play for subscriptions and checkout. SmartGT receives the product, purchase status, purchase token and signed purchase record. It saves purchase details locally to check access, including for a limited time without an internet connection, and uses Google Play to query, restore and acknowledge purchases. It does not receive your payment-card number or operate a separate purchase-verification server.
Google's billing software can send technical diagnostics to Google. These can include app/library versions, Android and device-build details, language, network information, event times and a billing-client-generated identifier. Events can wait in a local queue before being sent. This activity is separate from Report a problem and is not controlled by its optional version checkbox.
Google describes its processing and retention here:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
https://policies.google.com/technologies/retention
Clearing SmartGT's storage removes its local purchase cache and local queued events. It does not cancel your subscription or remove Google's records. Manage subscriptions through Google Play.
Moving to a new phone
SmartGT does not back up to the cloud. If you use Android's device-to-device transfer when you set up a new phone, Android copies SmartGT's settings and your own content (Ride Notes, Voice Notes, background photos, trips and ride history) to the new phone. Phone-specific values such as the bike pairing, permission status and access checks are cleared on the new phone, so SmartGT asks you to connect your bike and confirm access again. Access codes, purchase records and timing records are never transferred.
Deletion and other apps
Delete removes a note or ride from the current list; older imported files and temporary exports may remain in private storage until the next clean-up. Sharing a PDF creates a temporary copy in the app's private cache. SmartGT removes old temporary reports at a later clean-up once they are over a day old; this is not immediate deletion when sharing ends. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes all of SmartGT's local files. This does not delete copies already saved, shared or sent elsewhere. Remove background deletes SmartGT's photo copies and crop settings, not the original gallery photo. Android Auto, Google Play, map apps and other apps manage their own accounts and history. Deleting SmartGT data does not delete their records.
Beta versions
If you use a SmartGT beta from Google Play testing: access is included with the beta. The beta offers no purchases, does not connect to Google Play billing and sends none of the billing diagnostics described above. Upgrading from an older beta that has not had the one-time migration resets settings, Home layout, trips and ride history on your phone; your Voice Notes, Ride Notes and photos are kept, and you see a notice on the setup page. This reset is not repeated on every beta update. Earlier betas could keep technical ride logs on the phone at the tester's request; this version keeps none and adds none. Any logs left by an earlier beta can be removed with Delete old logs in Help, and they are never sent anywhere by SmartGT. Beta enrolment is managed by Google Play under Google's policies.
Advertising and analytics
SmartGT has no ads, does not sell your personal information and does not run its own analytics, tracking or crash-reporting service. Google billing diagnostics are described above. The public app does not include the publisher's development tools or an automatic background logger.
Children
SmartGT is made for motorcycle riders and is not directed at children.
Support and data deletion requests
Email smartgt.support@gmail.com for help, privacy questions or a request to delete support messages or Ambassador code requests. Your email, message and chosen attachments are handled through Gmail to answer and investigate your request. Messages are kept as needed for resolution and follow-up. Deletion from our inbox does not delete other people's copies.
Changes
We will update this policy when SmartGT's data practices change. The date above shows its latest update.
