SMART Sensor System or SMART (3S) is our most advanced medical technology in monitoring and communication, enabling real-time information and bringing your recovery a step closer to your doctor.
The sensors are embedded in our brace to avoid direct contact to the patient’s skin, not only for biomedical safety requirements, but also for hygienic reasons.
These sensors utilise piezo-resistive carbon nanotubes technology based on PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified), which is a Food-safe (BPA free) material, whilst also combining with localized capacitive sensors and accelerometers.
Features Included in SMART (3S):
Accelerometer
Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) Sensor
MEMS Capacitive Sensors
Activity Counter
Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
Bluetooth® Smart
Wear Time Sensor
Breathing Pattern Monitor
The sensors measure the pressure applied because of a change in strain and stress caused by the user. Monitoring, based on these sensors, will enable fine-tuned adjustments to be made to ensure comfortable use and long-term mobile support based on daily movements.
The capacitive sensors are used for localized sensing of the user’s cobb angle by method of differential pressure sensing and triangulation. These sensors are also able to detect breathing pattern. However, the accelerometer is used to measure other important aspects of the user such as raw acceleration, body position and orientation.
By agreeing to use our product, the data collected can be extrapolated into determining the physical activity and sedentary bouts which is beneficial to detect any strenuous activities or postures. This data is transmitted to the patient’s or parents' phone by the Bluetooth module of the microprocessor embedded in the lower back area of the brace. The user's usage data will be sent periodically to the doctors assigned to help better assist their recovery.
