Information We Collect
We do not require you to create an account to use the App. Depending on which features and permissions you use, the following categories of data may be processed.
2.1 Information you provide or choose to process
• URLs, search terms, bookmarks, and browsing history you create in the in-app browser
• Files, photos, videos, and audio you choose to download, open, edit, save, share, or place in Safe Box / recycle bin
• Optional PIN / biometric unlock settings for Safe Box (biometric templates stay on your device under Android’s biometric framework; we do not receive your fingerprint or face data)
• Text you enter into tools such as fancy text or the AI prompt helper
• Purchase/subscription choices you make through Google Play Billing (Google processes billing; we do not receive your full payment card details)
2.2 Device and usage data
• Device type, manufacturer/model, OS version, app version, language/locale, and similar technical identifiers
• Network connectivity state (for downloads, browsing, ads, and updates)
• App interaction and diagnostic events (feature use, errors, download outcomes)
• Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / AD_ID), where permitted by your device settings, for advertising and related measurement
• Install referrer / Play Store related signals used by advertising or analytics SDKs where applicable
2.3 Log, crash, and performance data
If the App experiences an error or is monitored for performance, third-party services may collect log/crash/performance data such as IP address, device name, OS version, app configuration, stack traces, and performance metrics. We treat this information carefully even when it is not directly identifying.
2.4 Media and storage data (on-device)
Photos, videos, audio, APK backups, and other files accessed via storage/media permissions are processed primarily on your device to provide download, playback, editing, status saving, file management, and recovery features. We do not operate a general cloud backup of your media content.
2.5 Notification content (only if you enable Notification Access)
If you grant Android’s Notification Access permission for deleted-message / status recovery features, the App’s notification listener may read notification content from messaging apps you enable (for example WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, Telegram, and other apps you select in-app) in order to save recoverable messages or related media locally. This content is processed on-device for that feature and is not uploaded by us to our own servers as a message backup service.
2.6 Cookies and similar technologies
The App itself does not set first-party web cookies for analytics. However, the in-app browser and third-party SDKs / websites you visit may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies. Third-party advertising networks may also use identifiers and similar technologies. You can often limit personalized ads in your device’s Ad settings.
3. Permissions and Why They Are Needed
The App may request or declare the following Android permissions (exact prompts depend on your Android version and which feature you use):
• INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE / ACCESS_WIFI_STATE / related network state permissions — browse sites, download media, load ads, check connectivity, and sync feature configuration
• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (legacy or all-files access where required) — save downloads and manage files
• READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED — access gallery and media libraries on Android 13+
• ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION — read location metadata embedded in media files when media features need it (this is not continuous GPS tracking of your device)
• CAMERA — capture photos for the photo editor when you choose the camera feature
• USE_BIOMETRIC — unlock Safe Box with fingerprint/face unlock
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS — show download, recovery, and feature notifications
• WAKE_LOCK / REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS — keep downloads and selected background work more reliable
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC — run download, media-observer, or related background work with a visible notification where required
• BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE (Notification Access; optional) — recover deleted messages / status-related notification content for apps you enable
• SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (display over other apps; optional) — floating / overlay helpers where offered
• VIBRATE — haptic feedback
• REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES — uninstall apps from App Manager when you choose to
• SET_WALLPAPER — set wallpapers from file manager actions when you choose to
• com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID — advertising/measurement
• com.android.vending.BILLING — in-app purchases/subscriptions via Google Play
• Other Play / Google services permissions that may be merged by SDKs (for example install-referrer or messaging-related permissions)
Camera location (GPS) continuous tracking and contacts access are not required core features of this App. CAMERA is used only when you opt into photo capture in the editor. READ_CONTACTS is not enabled in the current App configuration.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
• Provide, maintain, and improve downloading, browsing, playback, editing, file management, status saving, and message-recovery features
• Show advertisements through Google AdMob (and related mediation partners when enabled)
• Process optional in-app purchases/subscriptions through Google Play Billing
• Deliver or support push / in-app notifications where those services are enabled
• Diagnose crashes, monitor performance, improve stability, and detect abuse or policy violations (including Play Integrity checks)
• Check for app updates and optionally request in-app reviews through Google Play libraries
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce acceptable-use / copyright rules
We do not sell your personal information as a standalone product. Advertising partners may process device and usage signals to show ads and measure performance under their own policies.
5. Third-Party Services and SDKs
The App integrates or may load the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:
• Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads — advertising and ad measurement
https://policies.google.com/privacy
https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543

Websites and platforms you visit or download from (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter/X, Vimeo, Dailymotion, ShareChat, WhatsApp, Telegram, and others) have their own separate terms and privacy policies. SmartTube is not responsible for those third parties.
6. Advertising
The free version of the App displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect advertising identifiers and usage signals to deliver and measure ads, including personalized ads where allowed. You can reset or limit your advertising ID and opt out of personalized advertising in your Android device settings (Google > Ads, or equivalent).
7. In-App Purchases
Where offered, purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play. Google handles payment information under Google’s policies. We may receive purchase status (for example, whether a product is owned or a subscription is active) to unlock features or remove ads.
8. Data Retention and Local Storage
• Downloaded files, edited photos, recovered statuses/messages, Safe Box contents, browser bookmarks/history, and similar content are stored locally on your device unless you explicitly share or export them.
• “Manage on PC” (when used) temporarily exposes selected files over a local network HTTP server that you start; stop the server when finished and only use it on networks you trust.
• Crash, analytics, advertising, and push providers retain data according to their own retention policies.
• We do not maintain a general remote copy of your downloaded media or recovered chat content on our own servers.
Some of the advertisers in our app may use cookies and web beacons. Our advertising partners are listed below. Each of our advertising partners has their own Privacy Policy detailing their policies on user data. For easier access, we have hyperlinked to their Privacy Policies below:
