I installed GSE Smart IPTV on 2 different Apple TV. Everything worked well until update of Apple TV a few weeks ago. The Apple TV is loosing the reference to new M3U Channels. After a while, I decided to factory reset one of my Apple TV. I reloaded the GSE smart IPTV app frn Apple Store, installed the parameters for new M3U channels and now it is working without problem. I DID NOT update the Apple TV after factory resetting. So it seems to me that the problem is related to updating the Apple TV.

A smart TV, also known as a connected TV (CTV), is a traditional television set with integrated Internet and interactive Web 2.0 features that allow users to stream music and videos, browse the internet, and view photos. Smart TVs are a technological convergence of computers, televisions, and digital media players. Besides the traditional functions of television sets provided through traditional broadcasting media, these devices can provide access to over-the-top media services such as streaming television and internet radio, along with home networking access.[2][3][4]

In smart TVs, the operating system is preloaded into the television set's firmware, which provides access to apps and other digital content. In contrast, traditional televisions primarily act as displays and are limited to vendor-specific customization. The software applications can be preloaded into the device or updated or installed on demand via an application store or marketplace, in a similar manner to how applications are integrated into modern smartphones.[5][6][7][8][9]

The technology that enables smart TVs is also incorporated into external devices such as set-top boxes and some Blu-ray players, game consoles, digital media players, hotel television systems, smartphones, and other network-connected interactive devices that utilize television-type display outputs.[10][11] These devices allow viewers to find and play videos, movies, TV shows, photos, and other content from the Web, cable or satellite TV channels, or a local storage device.

However, descriptions of the elements of a smart television can be found in public discourse from the beginning of the 1980s, if not earlier, with the introduction of videotex services, particularly teletext information for reception by television sets, leading commentators to consider that televisions and accessories would evolve to encompass a range of related activities. In the words of one commentator: "In the long run, this machine is likely to develop into a multi-purpose receiver, for electronic mail, dealing with the bank, calculations, remote information - and 'Not the nine o'clock news' or 'Casablanca' on video."[19]

Smart TV devices also provide access to user-generated content (either stored on an external hard drive or in cloud storage) and to interactive services and Internet applications, such as YouTube, many using HTTP Live Streaming (also known as HLS) adaptive streaming.[24] Smart TV devices facilitate the curation of traditional content by combining information from the Internet with content from TV providers. Services offer users a means to track and receive reminders about shows[25] or sporting events,[26] as well as the ability to change channels for immediate viewing. Some devices feature additional interactive organic user interface / natural user interface technologies for navigation controls and other human interaction with a Smart TV, with such as second screen companion devices,[27][28] spatial gestures input like with Xbox Kinect,[29][30] and even for speech recognition for natural language user interface.[31] Smart TV develops new features to satisfy consumers and companies, such as new payment processes. LG and PaymentWall have collaborated to allow consumers to access purchased apps, movies, games, and more using a remote control, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. This is intended for an easier and more convenient way for checkout.

There have also been concerns that hackers may be able to remotely turn on the microphone or webcam on a smart TV, being able to eavesdrop on private conversations. A common loop antenna may be set for a bidirectional transmission channel, capable of uploading data rather than only receiving. Since 2012, security researchers discovered a similar vulnerability present in more series of Smart TVs, which allows hackers to get an external root access on the device.[50]

My Nighthawk R7000 will allow our new Samsung smart TV access to the home network via wired and wireless connection however will not allow access to the internet. It allows all other traffic onto the net no problem and I have tried disabling Parental Controls to no effect. Also I have disabled Access Control inside Attached Devices, again with no luck. I tethered the TV through my iPhone and access was granted immediately so it looks like the Samsung equipment is working properly. I've rolled back the Firmare as well from 10.16 to 10.10, again no result.

Would you like to tell me and everyone else that smart iptv does not work anymore its been all over the news?? There is no chance we can watch it so dont waste ur money or time. Xstream codes has shut down.So what makes it any different now.?????

These capabilities are certainly unnerving, but the most likely scenario is that smart TV manufacturers are monitoring viewing habits and selling the information to marketers. In other words, the spy is often the TV manufacturer.

However, data collection isn't always the fault of manufacturers. TV set-top boxes and Wi-Fi routers can be hacked with relative ease. In 2013, for example, the "Linux/Flasher.A" bot was discovered after it collected login credentials from smart TVs, tablets, smartphones, and PCs. Infiltration was fairly easy because older routers were poorly secured.

At the time, cable companies often used the same passwords for all the boxes they provided, and cable subscribers couldn't change them easily. Therefore, anyone with the password for one router or set-top box could infiltrate many others. To make matters worse, many pieces of equipment had built-in backdoors. This ease of access only gives more incentive to attempt smart TV hacking.

Onboard microphones in smart TVs and other devices can be manipulated as well. In 2017, researchers at the University of Washington showed how software called CovertBand could use a smart device's sound system to track the movement of people in a room. It works by hiding nearly undetectable "chirp" signals in music, and those signals bounce off human bodies and act like sonar signals to device microphones. The software could detect multiple people within approximately 20 feet of the device and was accurate to within seven inches.

While we previously offered apps for the following smart TV platforms and models, they are no longer actively supported. An older version of our app may still be available on the devices, but the old app will not be receiving updates, may not be compatible with newer features or server releases, and could stop being functional in the future.

3) In IP Settings: Select manual configuration for IP and DNS. For this part, I entered the same info as on my Samsung Android smartphone which was connected to the same wireless network. To access this information on the smartphone:

HI @Bobik the latest firmware for this model is 2126 same for all sizes. If not the version you have should download to USB and update that way. Know you have tried quite a few things, have you also done a smart Hub Reset in addition to factory reset?

Thank you for your replies. I will try disconnecting the tv for a few minutes and see if that works and also check the firmware version. I have already tried reseting the Internet box and Wi-Fi, but it didn't work :(. I have already tried the smart hub reset also.

i'm following bobik's case as it seems i have the same case with my 2-smart TVs. my son experience it yesterday on his 40" model and when i checked with my 50" model today, it does have the same issue. I thought it was a Netflix issue or my internet provider issue but my pcs and mobilephones works fine with netflix by wifi connection. Even youtube is not working as well on the TV. So it brings me back to my TVs internet connection. Please help us

This vulnerability is not exploitable remotely, however it convinced me that I was right to not connect my TV to the internet, and use its (not so) smart features. I am not really comfortable with the thought that someone can have control over my TV.

My wife works frm home and her office is set up in a windowless room. I am wondering if there is a way to use a wyze cam to hook up to a smart tv to have it act as a window to see whats happening outside. Kind of like having a room with a view.
