Smaranika ("the app", "we", "our") is a Shri Ramnaam Jap (mantra counting) application developed by [YOUR NAME / DEVELOPER NAME]. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles your information.
Smaranika is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not operate a server, we do not collect your jap data, and we do not sell or share your personal information with advertisers. Almost everything you do in the app — counting, history, targets, manual entries, and any mantra audio you record — stays stored locally on your device and never leaves it unless you explicitly choose to export or share it.
We do not collect, transmit, or have any access to:
Your jap counts, mala counts, or session history
Your daily/monthly/yearly targets
Manual jap entries you log
Any custom mantras you create
Audio recordings of you chanting a mantra
Your device's location
Analytics or usage tracking data
Advertising identifiers
The app does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal identifying information to use its core features.
The app stores the following locally, using your device/browser's IndexedDB storage:
Mantra names and settings (mala size, color, etc.)
Jap count entries and timestamps
Manual (physical mala) jap entries you log
Daily/monthly/yearly targets you set
Audio recordings you make of yourself chanting a mantra, if you choose to use the audio auto-counter feature
App preferences (theme, sound/haptic settings, reminder time, etc.)
This data is stored only on your device. We, the developers, have no access to it, no copy of it, and no way to view it. If you uninstall the app or clear your device's app storage, this data is permanently deleted — which is why the app includes an export/backup feature (see below).
If you use the audio auto-counter feature, the app requests microphone permission to record you chanting your mantra. This recording:
Is stored only in the app's local storage on your device
Is never uploaded, transmitted, or sent to us or any third party
Is used only for looped playback within the app to power the audio-based counting feature
Can be deleted by you at any time from within the app
If you enable the optional daily reminder, the app uses your device's local notification system to remind you at your chosen time. This is handled entirely on-device and does not involve any external notification server.
The app lets you export your data as a .zip file so you can back it up or move it to a new device. When you export:
The file is generated on your device
You choose where it goes, using your device's standard share sheet (e.g., saving to Google Drive, emailing it to yourself, sending it via Bluetooth, etc.)
We do not receive a copy of this file, and the export process does not involve our servers, because we don't have any
You are responsible for keeping this exported file secure, since it contains your jap history and any recorded audio.
The "Contact Us" screen in the app embeds a Google Form so you can send us feedback, bug reports, or feature requests. If you choose to submit this form:
The information you type (your message, and optionally your email address) is sent to Google Forms and stored in a Google Sheet that we, the developers, have access to, for the purpose of reading and responding to your feedback
This submission is covered by Google's Privacy Policy, since Google Forms is a third-party service we use for this one feature
Submitting the form is entirely optional — you do not need to use this feature to use the app
We use the information you submit only to understand and respond to your feedback, and do not use it for marketing or share it with other third parties
Aside from the Google Form described above, this app does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. It does not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, ad networks, or crash-reporting services that transmit data off your device.
If this changes in a future version of the app, we will update this policy and the in-app version to reflect it.
Smaranika does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, since it does not collect personal information at all in its core functionality. The app is generally suitable for a family audience given its devotional/spiritual purpose.
Since your data is stored locally on your own device rather than on a server we control, its security depends on your device's own security (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We recommend keeping your device secured and periodically backing up your data using the app's export feature.
Because we don't hold your jap data on any server, there is no account data for us to let you access, correct, or delete on our end — that data lives on your device, under your control, at all times. You can:
Delete any mantra, manual entry, or audio recording directly within the app
Clear all app data via your device's app settings
Export your data at any time for your own records
For the Contact Us form specifically, since that data does reach us via Google Forms, you may request that we delete a submission by emailing us at the address below with details of what you submitted.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features that change how data is handled. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at:
Email: rammoharil@gmail.com Or via the in-app Contact Us form
This policy applies to the Smaranika app across all platforms on which it is distributed (Android, web/PWA, etc.).
