At Słovy, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Słovy app for iOS. The fundamental principle of Słovy is that your personal data stays on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information to our servers.

2. Information We Process

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Słovy stores the following data exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and iCloud sync:

• Words and translations you add to your flashcard decks

• Language pair settings and preferences

• App settings including notification preferences, word order, and display options

This data is never sent to our servers and belongs entirely to you.

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your flashcard data is synced across your Apple devices via Apple's CloudKit. This sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

AI Translation

Słovy uses the DeepSeek API to automatically translate words you enter. When you add a word, the text of that word is sent to DeepSeek's servers solely for the purpose of translation. We do not store this data on our servers, and DeepSeek's use of this data is governed by their privacy policy (https://www.deepseek.com/privacy). No personal identifying information is sent alongside translation requests.

Widgets

Słovy offers home screen and lock screen widgets. Widget data (your words and translations) is stored in an App Group on your device and is not transmitted externally.

Notifications

If you enable Daily Reminders, Słovy schedules local push notifications on your device. These notifications do not involve any external servers or data transmission.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

Słovy does not collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)

• Location data

• Device identifiers or advertising IDs

• Usage analytics or crash reports

• Any data shared with third-party advertisers

4. Third-Party Services

Słovy uses the following third-party service:

• DeepSeek API — for automatic translation of words. Only the text of the word you submit is sent. No personal data is included.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all your data is stored locally on your device and in your iCloud account:

• You can delete any word or language pair at any time within the app

• Uninstalling Słovy removes all locally stored data from your device

• To remove iCloud data, you can delete the app and manage your iCloud storage in iOS Settings

6. Children's Privacy

Słovy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app or applicable legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
