Below you will find out some of the things to expect in a worship service at Sligo Methodist Church
Style of Worship
Sundays can have various styles of worship, however we always try to have a few main components:
We Gather Together; We Hear God's Word Proclaimed and Respond; We Go Into the World as Agents of Love and Light
Within these three main movements we sing, greet one another, hear from Scripture, share our tithes and offerings,
and about once a month we celebrate Communion (Lord's Supper, Eucharist).
Clothing
attire for worship ranges, some people arrive in suits and dresses, while others arrive in jeans and jumpers.
All our welcome to worship with us.
Childcare, Sunday School, and Youth
Children's Ministry at Sligo Methodist
Sunday Mornings:
We love the voices and energy of children in worship.
We begin worship together as a one group, and part way through worship the children are invited up for a short lesson or to receive a blessing.
After this time, those age 5 - 11 are invited to participate in Sunday School in the Church hall (there is a connecting door through the sanctuary).
Those younger than 5 are invited to remain with their parents, however there is 'wiggle-space' parents can use outside the sanctuary if they need to play or move around. Worship can still be seen and heard from the 'wiggle-space', so parents can continue to worship while children are wiggling.
Youth at Sligo Methodist
Sunday Mornings:
We invite our youth to participate actively in worship on a Sunday morning, as well as take an opportunity to serve in either Sunday School or with the greeting and tea & coffee time.
Coming in September 2025:
An exciting new plan for the youth of Sligo Methodist som of our Young Adults plan to start a new Youth Initiative - mre details to follow.
Current Preaching Rota and Worship Themes
The Preaching Rotation and Schedule
Sligo Methodist Church belongs to a circuit of Irish Methodist Churches. At present Brian usually preaches in Sligo twice in each month, and he preaches in Ballina on the alternate Sundays. As part of Irish Methodism, we have a team of local preachers who lead worship and preach when Brian is in another location.
THEMES FOR Summer 2025

This is a season of change and transition for the North Connacht Circuit as some structural changes take place on our Circuit. This will also see the departure of Brian Donaghy as he takes up his first stationed appointment in Co. Fermanagh. The circuit is looking forward to the arrival of Rev. Dr. Kevin Tully and his wife Georgia.
