1. Introduction
ZenSomni ("we," "us," or "our"), developed by LittleAnts Apps, is a mobile utility designed for Android devices. Our primary functionality includes sleep tracking, sleep sound event recognition (such as snoring, sleep talking, and coughing), sleep aid audio playback, and smart alarm tools.
We are strictly committed to your privacy. ZenSomni does not request the INTERNET permission. All sleep sound recognition uses strictly local machine learning models, and all your sleep records, audio snippets, and settings are stored locally in the application's private directory on your device.

2. Android Permissions Usage
To provide the core services of ZenSomni, we require specific system permissions. We only request permissions that are strictly necessary for the app's technical operations.
User-Authorized Permissions:
Record Audio (RECORD_AUDIO): Required exclusively during active sleep monitoring to capture environmental sounds and identify events like snoring, sleep talking, coughing, or environmental noise. If the night recording feature is enabled, short audio snippets are saved locally.
Post Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required (Android 13+) to display foreground service statuses, sleep aid playback controls, sleep reminders, and wake-up alarms.
Schedule Exact Alarm (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Required to trigger sleep reminders and wake-up alarms at the precise times you set.
Use Full Screen Intent (USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT): Allows the wake-up alarm screen to pop up over the lock screen or background applications, ensuring you can easily dismiss or snooze the alarm.
Automated/System Permissions (No Prompt Required):
Receive Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Allows the app to restore your scheduled sleep reminders and alarms automatically after your device reboots.
Foreground Services (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK): Required to keep sleep monitoring, audio analysis, sleep aid playback, and alarm ringing active and stable in the background while your screen is locked.
Wake Lock (WAKE_LOCK): Prevents the system from suspending the app during active sleep monitoring or while an alarm is ringing.
Vibrate (VIBRATE): Provides haptic feedback for wake-up alarms.
Dynamic Receiver (com.lixiangdong.zensomni.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION): A custom security permission used to safely manage internal app components. It does not collect user data. (Note: Ensure this package name matches your actual AndroidManifest.xml)
Microphone Hardware (android.hardware.microphone): Marked as required=false, meaning the app can be installed on devices without a microphone, though sleep sound monitoring will not function.
Permission Revocation Control: You retain full control over your device permissions. You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time through your device's system settings, though doing so may limit certain core functionalities of ZenSomni.
3. Data Collection and Processing
Because ZenSomni operates entirely offline without Internet access, your data never leaves your device.
Sleep Records: Data regarding sleep/wake times, sleep duration, sleep stages, sleep scores, and event statistics are generated and stored entirely on your device.
Sound Events & Audio Processing: Timestamps, event types (snoring, talking, coughing, noise), confidence levels, and volume data are processed by a local AI model and saved strictly to your local database. Audio streams are processed in real-time and instantly discarded.
Audio Snippets: Audio files are only generated and saved if you explicitly enable the night recording feature. These snippets are saved in the app's private directory for your personal playback.
User Preferences: Sleep goals, alarm settings, ringtones, and saved sounds are stored locally.
Local Logs: Technical logs containing session IDs, local file paths, and error states are kept locally for app stability and troubleshooting.
System Backup Exclusion: To further protect your privacy, ZenSomni's local database, audio snippets, and user preferences are deliberately excluded from Android's cloud backup rules. Your sleep data will not sync to Google Drive or other cloud backup services.
4. Third-Party Sharing and Sales
Right to Know About Data Sharing: You have the explicit right to know whether your personal data is being shared with or sold to third parties. We confirm that ZenSomni does not share, upload, distribute, or sell any personal data to any third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.
Because the application operates entirely offline without Internet access, it is technically impossible for us to transmit your data to external servers. We do not integrate any third-party SDKs for cloud analytics, cross-context behavioral advertising, or external tracking.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Data Retention Period: We do not maintain any external servers or cloud databases. All personal data, including your sleep records and audio snippets, is retained solely and locally on your physical device. This data is kept indefinitely for as long as the application remains installed on your device, unless you choose to manually delete it.
Data Deletion Mechanisms: Your data is retained entirely under your control. We provide comprehensive data management tools within the app:
Individual Deletion: You can manually delete specific sleep records or specific audio snippets directly from the relevant record pages.
One-Click Clear: You can permanently erase all historical sleep records and audio files at any time via the one-click clear function in the Settings menu.
Uninstall Deletion: If you uninstall ZenSomni, the Android operating system will automatically and permanently destroy all data, databases, and audio snippets stored in the application's private directory.
6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR & UK GDPR)
For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, privacy laws require us to disclose the legal grounds for processing your data. Although ZenSomni operates entirely offline, the localized processing on your device relies on the following lawful bases:
Performance of a Contract: To deliver the core services and features you request, such as real-time sleep monitoring, audio processing, and smart alarms.
Legitimate Interests: To ensure the technical stability, security, and smooth operation of the application through the use of localized technical logs.
7. Children & Minors' Privacy
ZenSomni is strictly intended for use by adults aged 18 and older. Our application is not designed for, nor directed at, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect or process personal data from anyone under 18. Because all data remains strictly local on the device, parents or legal guardians can completely delete any unintended data by using the app's deletion tools or by uninstalling the application if they discover a minor has been using it.
8. Important Usage & Medical Disclaimer
Not a Medical Device: ZenSomni is designed for general health reference, entertainment, and self-management purposes only. It is not a medical device. The application does not provide medical diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or professional health assessments. If you have concerns about a sleep disorder (such as sleep apnea) or other medical conditions, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Hardware Dependence: The accuracy of sleep tracking and sound event recognition relies on the quality and placement of your device's microphone and sensors. Results may vary based on environmental noise and hardware capabilities.
9. Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA/GDPR/VCDPA/LGPD)
Depending on your location, privacy laws grant you specific rights regarding your data:
Right to Know / Access: You have the right to request full disclosure of what personal data we collect, share, or sell.
Right to Correct / Delete: You have the right to modify or permanently erase your data.
Right to Opt-Out of Data Sale and Targeted Advertising: We strictly do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising, profiling, or any other commercial purposes. Because our application is built on strict data minimalism and operates offline, we do not have mechanisms that transmit your data to external entities.
Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority or your local data protection regulator if you believe our data processing practices violate applicable privacy laws.
How to Exercise Your Opt-Out and Privacy Rights: Although your data is already protected from sale or sharing by default, privacy laws grant you the right to formally request to opt out.
