Privacy Policy for SleepGate
Effective date: August 13, 2026
SleepGate is an Android application that helps users switch between daytime music and nighttime sounds based on schedule, audio connection state, and user-selected audio devices.
This Privacy Policy explains what information SleepGate accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Information We Access
SleepGate may access the following information on your device:
1. Audio files selected by the user
SleepGate can play local audio files that you explicitly select as night sounds. These files remain on your device. If you choose to store night sounds as files in app memory, SleepGate copies those selected files into the app’s private storage.
2. Installed audio applications
SleepGate shows a list of compatible installed music or audio applications so you can choose a daytime player. This information is used only inside the app.
3. Bluetooth and audio output devices
SleepGate may access Bluetooth audio device names and connection state to detect headphones, speakers, or car audio systems and apply user-selected behavior rules.
4. App settings
SleepGate stores your preferences locally, including schedule, selected day player, selected night sounds, night timer, playlist repeat setting, audio device rules, and Pro-related settings.
5. Notifications and foreground service
SleepGate uses notifications and foreground services to keep audio switching and night playback reliable while the app works in the background.
How We Use Information
SleepGate uses this information only to provide its core functions:
- playing selected night sounds;
- opening the selected daytime audio player;
- switching between day and night modes;
- detecting audio device connection and disconnection;
- applying per-device audio behavior rules;
- remembering night volume settings in Pro;
- keeping the app active in the background when needed.
Data Collection and Sharing
SleepGate does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data with third parties.
SleepGate does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, or remote servers.
All app settings and selected audio information are stored locally on your device.
Permissions
SleepGate may request permissions for:
- Bluetooth access, to detect connected audio devices;
- notifications, to show foreground service status;
- foreground service access, to keep playback and audio connection monitoring active;
- startup after device reboot, to restore enabled background behavior;
- location on older Android versions, only because Android may require it for Bluetooth device discovery or access. SleepGate does not collect or track your location.
Data Storage and Retention
SleepGate stores settings and selected audio references locally on your device.
If you delete the app, Android removes the app’s private data, including copied night sound files stored in app memory.
If you store night sounds as links, SleepGate keeps only references to files selected by you. After reinstalling the app, you may need to choose those files again.
Data Security
SleepGate stores data using Android’s local app storage mechanisms. The app does not send your data to external servers.
Children’s Privacy
SleepGate is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
