Regarding the baggage allowance for Skywest Airlines!
Flights for Delta, United, American, and Alaska Airlines are run by SkyWest Airlines, a US-based airline.
Your journey, which is being run by SkyWest Airlines, will be subject to the standard baggage fees and regulations for the branded carrier. There are a few additional limits for flights operated by SkyWest Airlines due to equipment size limitations; some heavy items won't fit on the smaller aircraft.
If Skywest is operating your aircraft (even if you are flying on a route flown by another airline, such as Delta, United, American, or Alaska), be careful to study the restrictions indicated below in addition to the standard restrictions for your trip.
Beginning in 2023, Skywest Airlines will have cabin bag size and weight restrictions
The carry-on baggage policies of your normal airline will apply when you fly with SkyWest.
Due to the limited space on board, some carry-on items may need to be gate-checked (placed into the aircraft's hold at the time of boarding), and you won't have access to your carry-on bags the whole flight. Your carry-on bag will be returned to you when you get off the plane or at the baggage carousel.
Skywest Airlines will impose size and weight limitations on cabin bags as of 2023.
When you fly with SkyWest, the carry-on baggage rules of your regular airline will apply.
Some carry-on items may need to be gate-checked (put into the aircraft's hold at the time of boarding) due to the restricted capacity on board, and you won't have access to your carry-on luggage the entire journey. You will receive your carry-on bag back when you exit the aircraft or at the baggage carousel.
If you are flying with additional bags, please be advised that some may not fit on Skywest's smaller aircraft and will need to be sent on a subsequent journey. Call us at 1-888-875-0388 for additional information regarding the guidance on SkyWest Airlines' baggage policy.
SkyWest Airlines' fees for overweight baggage, extra bags, and large bags in 2023
The standard overweight/oversize and extra baggage fees and rules of Skywest's partner airlines will apply to your Skywest operated travel. Please visit the normal carrier's baggage policy website to find out more about the excess/overweight/oversize baggage rules for your travel.
Even though they are officially approved by the marketing carrier, keep in mind that some larger things, such as huge sporting goods like windsurfing equipment, kayaks, hang gliders, or very large or giant pet kennels, may not be allowed due to the size constraints of Skywest Airlines' smaller aircraft.
The same rule applies to oversize and excess baggage. If you have a lot of extra luggage, it might not be possible to fly with you and instead needs to be transported on a different trip.
Are carry-on bags permitted on SkyWest flights?
Each passenger is only permitted one piece of carry-on luggage, one purse/laptop bag, and one briefcase, according to SkyWest Airlines' baggage policy. They shouldn't bring carry-on luggage that is heavier than 7 pounds or larger than 23 x 34 x 48 centimeters.
Depending on the kind of aircraft, travel class (First class, Première, or Economy), and itinerary, different amounts of cabin baggage are permitted.
