SkyCast Privacy Policy

SkyCast (hereinafter referred to as “we,” “our,” “the App,” or “SkyCast”) values and respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we access, process, use, and protect information when you use SkyCast.

By using SkyCast, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Process

SkyCast is designed to provide weather lookup, weather forecasts, and related features while collecting as little personal information as reasonably necessary.

Location Information

To provide weather information for your current location, SkyCast may access your device’s location information after obtaining your permission.

Location information may be used to:

-  Provide hourly weather information for your location 

-  Provide a 7-day weather forecast 

-  Provide weather details such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, UV index, and air quality 

-  Provide sunrise and sunset times for your location 

We request location permission only when it is necessary for relevant weather features.

Location access is not required to use SkyCast.

If you deny or disable location access, you can still search for a city manually and view its weather conditions and forecast. Your ability to use basic weather lookup features will not be affected.

To retrieve weather information for your selected location, your current location coordinates may be sent to a weather data service provider. This information is used only to complete the weather request and return the relevant weather data.

You can disable or change SkyCast’s location permission at any time through your device settings.

City Search Information

When you use the city search feature, the city or area name you enter may be used to find the corresponding location and weather information.

This search information may be sent to a weather data service provider in order to locate the city and return the relevant weather results.

Unless required for a specific feature, we do not ask you to provide personally identifying information such as your name, phone number, or contacts.

Device and Technical Information

To maintain the normal operation of the App, diagnose crashes, and improve performance, SkyCast or third-party services we use may process limited device and technical information, such as:

-  Device model 

-  Operating system and version 

-  App version 

-  Language and region settings 

-  Network status 

-  Crash logs 

-  Performance and diagnostic information 

This information is primarily used for App maintenance, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and improving the user experience.

2. Weather Data

Some weather information in SkyCast may be provided by third-party weather data providers, including but not limited to:

-  Current weather conditions 

-  Temperature and feels-like temperature 

-  Hourly weather information 

-  7-day weather forecast 

-  Humidity 

-  Wind speed and direction

-  Air quality 

-  Sunrise and sunset times 

When you request weather information, we may need to send a city name, area name, or location coordinates to a weather data provider in order to retrieve the relevant weather information.

The processing of such information by third-party weather providers may also be subject to their own privacy policies and terms of service.

3. Advertising Services

If SkyCast displays third-party advertisements, we may integrate software development kits (SDKs) provided by third-party advertising service providers.

Depending on your region, device settings, privacy choices, and how the third-party service operates, advertising providers may process certain information, such as:

We do not use these features to actively request sensitive personal information unrelated to weather services.

-  Provide hourly and 7-day weather forecasts

-  Support manual city searches

This permission is optional. If you deny location permission, you can still use weather lookup features by manually searching for a city.

Network Access

SkyCast requires an internet connection to retrieve current weather information, weather forecasts, city search results, and other online weather information.

Certain third-party services, such as advertising or analytics services, may also require network access to function properly.

Notification Permission (If Applicable)

If you choose to enable weather notifications, SkyCast may request notification permission to send you weather-related alerts.

You can disable notification permission at any time through your device settings.

7. Third-Party Services

SkyCast may use third-party services to provide weather data, advertising, analytics, crash diagnostics, or other necessary functions.

These third-party services may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of the relevant third-party service providers to better understand how they handle data.

We do not require third-party service providers to use data obtained through SkyCast for purposes beyond what is necessary to provide their services. However, the processing activities of third-party service providers remain subject to their own policies and applicable laws.

-  To send necessary location or city information to weather data providers for weather lookup 

-  To provide necessary information to relevant third-party providers for advertising, analytics, diagnostic, or similar services

-  When disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the legal rights, safety, or property of SkyCast, our users, or the public 

We do not require you to provide personal identifying information unrelated to basic weather lookup features.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through SkyCast from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, misuse, or loss.

However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that all information will be free from security risks under all circumstances.

10. Data Retention

We retain relevant information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

If certain information is processed directly by third-party weather, advertising, analytics, or diagnostic service providers, the retention period may be determined by the privacy policies of those providers.

11. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on the laws applicable in your country or region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data.

For device permissions, you can manage them at any time through your device settings, including:

If you disable location access, you can still view weather information by manually searching for a city.

SkyCast is intended to provide weather information to a general audience and is not designed primarily to collect personal information from children.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child where special legal protection or appropriate authorization is required, we will take appropriate steps to process or delete such information in accordance with applicable laws.
