So it seems like most iHeartMedia owned stations currently have this 1000 dollar giveaway where you have to text a keyword every hour. Is it legit? Like have people actually won? I always hear them play calls where people say they won, but I'm not sure if they're old calls from another contest or if they are legit winners. Any thoughts?

After all of this, I would take the radios out of the city and then use them. If out in the open they still got 1/2 a mile or less something may be wrong with them. If you bought them from us let us know!

Never used the GXT 1000 VP4 but I am thinking of getting them for my jungle survival courses.

Have tried Cobras, Motorola and Midlands in the jungles with thick and undulating terrain and Midlands win everytime.#

Most of their models are also water resistant which is great as the thick canopy protects us from the heavy tropical rainstorm and not much water is splashed onto my midlands radio.

Id go for Midlands anytime and I never fail to recharge the batteries at least 12 hours before I leave for teh jungles with loads of spare AA batteries as back ups.

I guess their range is the same as the 72mhz stuff since most companies probably use the same circuit for both the 72 and 75 Mhz radios and just retune them. But unless you plan on running your airboat across lake superior, I doubt it would be an issue.

As a basic troubleshoot pointer. I had to read the instructions to become clear on this. Channels 15+ seem to allow you to set the output power to the 3 different settings. I trialled the radios, and on my basic test it managed 9.25km through 2 substantial hills, 2 built up areas (army camp and a village) and about 8 dense woods (each of about 500m long each).

I finally managed to track down enough bits for a BC-1000

The top part is French but will do until I can get a US one, the battery box and upper box I believe are US, the webbing and handset came with the 2 box sections.

I am please with it as it doesn't need much restoration and the paint is 95%.

All of the latches have been replaced at some point with the spring loaded type, does anyone know when these spring loaded ones came into use? I assume they are post war and the correct wartime period ones are these

I'm also pretty sure the belt is a British made one, it has the American code ST-55-A all be it very faint on one side and an arrow shape and 8-1 on the other, it also has what looks like British hardware and is the British type webbing.

Also after searching I can't find any pictures that match the suspenders I have, they are 1945 dated and have the manufacture name that looks to be J.B. MFG CO. they are marked ST-54-A, the hardware on the cross strap looks odd to me, they have also used an adjustment buckle on the right hand side but seem to have sewn the adjustment bar so its unusable, it also has the same buckles that are on Marine type suspenders on the end of the strap that connects to the radio

Turn your Wouxun KG-1000G mobile radio into a full-featured fixed base station with the Wouxun DWC30WIN Power Supply!

This 30A switching power supply has an output voltage of 13.8V DC and is adjustable between 9V and 15V! It offers automatic current limiting within 30A for protection from short-circuits and includes a large LCD display with digital meter for high visibility.

The KG-1000G and DWC30WIN combo is a great option for those who want a powerful base station without the powerfully high cost!

For your convenience, an optional USB programming cable (Model PCO-003) is available to program the Wouxun KG-1000G from a computer.

NOTE: Programming software is available for download from the Downloads tab above.

I go this radio a few weeks ago to use in my vehicle. However I have reluctantly consign it to the base station role . The reson for this is simple, the scan function is absolutely useless. It will scan and will do scans on both areas at the same time, however if one of the freqs/channels you are scanning break squelch the scan will end, not pause, but end. You will need to manually restart the scan. This is not a good thing when driving, the scan should restart after a set period of time with no signal on the channel. My Midland MXT275 does exactly that. Also the WX function is nice to have but it would be even nicer if when there is a severe weather alert the radio will change to the WX freq so you can decide if you want to listen to the alert NOAA is broadcasting. It could save your life. Would I have bought the radio if I knew these things? Most likely, but I would have thought long and hard about it first.

As part of our emergency preparedness plan, our community set-up two KG 1000G's to work as a repeater for our community to use. I purchased this KG 1000G as a simplex back-up to use in case the repeater shed is damaged during a disaster (earthquake/forest fire). It works very well and the sound is crisp and clear. I am very happy with this product as well as the KG805G handheld units that we are encouraging the community to use during a disaster.

These radios have an excellent feature set and stand head and shoulders above competitor radios. However, be prepared to be disappointed in their power output. I bought two and they both topped out at 39 watts on high power. This was measured using a PM-120W Digital VHF UHF 125-525Mhz Power SWR Meter and Frequency Counter into a dummy load. So if the 50 watt output is important to you, look elsewhere.

Bought 2 for a repeater. Good radios so far. Software suxs. Needs help bigtime. No import functions. Should just make a driver to work with Cirp. For the price it should come with a programming cable. I have 4 $40 radios and one $120 and they all came with a cable. No issues at all with buy two way radios. HELLO #Notarubicon ! His videos are the reason I purchased these radios and the reason I knew about buy two way radios

I love my KG 1000G, it's a great radio.. I love the features of this radio. First thing I noticed was how Well Built this radio is. It FEELS very Professional. The ONLY lil Gripe I have with this unit, is that I wish there was a way too DIM the Display. When using this radio at night, dare I say, that it's Almost' Too Bright.. It would have been super cool, IF they implemented a LOW and HIGH setting for the brightness on the Display. Other than that, it's an Awesome radio! I'm very pleased with it's performance.. ff782bc1db
