If you want a lightweight, portable daily driver with rapid charging and Tile tracking for music and calls, choose Skullcandy Hesh ANC Noise; if you need a powerhouse gaming headset for PC with ultra-low latency, massive battery life, and multi-platform support, choose HyperX Cloud Mix 2.
• Skullcandy Hesh ANC Noise: Best for portability and quick top-ups with its 10-minute charge giving 3 hours of listening, but it lacks the low-latency dongle required for serious competitive gaming.
• HyperX Cloud Mix 2: Delivers an incredible 110-hour battery life and 20ms latency via USB-C dongle, yet it is heavier and more complex to set up for casual mobile use.
• Who each pick is for: Get the Skullcandy for commuting and travel; get the HyperX if your primary focus is a dedicated gaming setup for PC or console play.
The Skullcandy Hesh ANC Noise is designed for the person who wants their headphones to disappear into their lifestyle rather than dominate it. At just 0.2 grams, this unit is exceptionally light, which makes it a strong candidate for all-day wear without the neck fatigue that comes with heavier gear. The design prioritizes portability above almost everything else. With a flat-folding and collapsible form factor, these headphones tuck away easily into a backpack or jacket pocket, making them ideal for the commuter or the traveler who needs to stow their audio gear quickly between trains or flights.
For users who rely on active noise cancellation (ANC) primarily for music, podcasts, or movies, the four-mic system does a solid job of letting you lose yourself in the content. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0 ensures a stable wireless connection within a 10-meter range, which covers most living rooms and office spaces comfortably. What really sets this apart for the average consumer is the Rapid Charge feature. If you forget to plug them in overnight, ten minutes of charging provides three hours of playback. This is a game-changer for someone who lives life on the go and cannot afford to wait for a full charge cycle before heading out the door.

However, this product has clear limitations when viewed through the lens of a gamer. While it features a 3.5 mm jack for wired connections, it does not include a dedicated 2.4GHz wireless dongle. This means if you are looking for a gaming headset for PC where every millisecond counts, the standard Bluetooth connection might introduce lag that detracts from the experience. Furthermore, the frequency response and balanced armature drivers are tuned for general audio consumption rather than the specific soundstage requirements of competitive shooters. You should skip this model if you need a solution for high-end immersive gaming or if you require a warranty longer than one year.
The HyperX Cloud Mix 2 is built for the enthusiast who refuses to compromise on performance across multiple platforms. Unlike the Skullcandy, this headset is engineered with a dual-wireless architecture that includes both Bluetooth 5.3 LE Audio Technology and a 2.4GHz USB-C dongle. This combination allows you to switch seamlessly between devices while maintaining minimal latency as low as 20ms when using the dongle. For anyone using a gaming headset for PC, whether on Steam Deck, PS5, Nintendo Switch, or a desktop, this low-latency connection is non-negotiable for competitive play. The ability to maintain a dependable wireless connection with such low lag is a defining feature of this device.
Battery life is another area where this headset dominates. With up to 110 hours in Bluetooth mode and 72 hours using the 2.4GHz dongle (or 52 hours with ANC on), you can go days, if not weeks, without reaching for a charger. The memory foam plush earcups and soft leatherette materials are designed to alleviate discomfort during long sessions, making it a practical choice for marathon gaming marathons or extended work-from-home days. The hybrid active noise cancellation works alongside a transparency mode, allowing you to block out distractions when you need focus or stay alert to your surroundings when necessary. The AI-enhanced microphones further ensure that your voice cuts through clearly in team chats, a critical requirement for multiplayer environments.
That said, the HyperX Cloud Mix 2 comes with trade-offs. At 266 grams, it is significantly heavier than the Skullcandy, which might be noticeable over very long periods if you are not used to over-ear gaming headsets. The aluminum and plastic enclosure feels robust and durable, but it also adds to the weight. Additionally, the maximum Bluetooth range is 20 meters, which is excellent, but the sheer number of features and the need to manage two different wireless modes might feel like overkill for a user who only listens to music casually. You should skip this model if you prioritize extreme portability or if you find the weight too burdensome for travel.

After weighing the specifications and real-world use cases, I would buy the HyperX Cloud Mix 2 if my primary goal was a dedicated gaming headset for PC. The 2.4GHz dongle offering 20ms latency is simply too valuable to ignore for any serious gamer, and the 110-hour battery life means I would rarely think about charging. However, if I were traveling or needed a secondary pair of headphones for music and calls on the go, I would choose the Skullcandy Hesh ANC Noise for its lightweight foldable design and rapid charging capability. Ultimately, for the specific intent of building a high-performance gaming station, the HyperX Cloud Mix 2 is the clear winner due to its connectivity options and endurance.

Both feature over-ear designs, but the HyperX Cloud Mix 2 uses memory foam plush earcups and a 2-year warranty, suggesting it is built specifically for extended comfort and durability.
