Skinner Research Group

Condensed matter theory at the Ohio State University

We are a theory group interested in applying old-fashioned ideas in creative new ways.

One side of our work is thinking about new quantum materials, and finding ways that these materials can do things that traditional materials cannot.

Another side is applying concepts from solid state and materials physics to different (sometimes unusual) settings, ranging from quantum information to the dynamics of human groups.

Common themes of our work include long-ranged (Coulomb) interactions, strong disorder, percolation, and networks. Much of our work is done in close collaboration with experimental groups.
